Start-Up Support

We offer comprehensive support to help you start your childcare business smoothly and successfully. Our team will guide you through every step of the application process, enroll you in required training, and help you prepare your program environment to meet licensing standards.

Your dedicated coach will also provide valuable resources and hands-on assistance in developing essential documents such as program policies, family handbooks, and emergency preparedness plans. You'll also gain access to a wide range of tools designed to support the creation of a high-quality childcare program.

During the session, we’ll explore the resources available through the Family Child Care Network, share details about our Start-Up Toolkit Program, and take time to learn more about you—your program goals, your vision, and how we can work together to support your success.

Kansas Licensing (KDHE)

Orientation is your first opportunity to learn about the requirements for the type of care you're pursuing.

The local licensing surveyor conducts orientation. The goal of orientation is to explain the child care licensing process and requirements and offer support and encouragement.

During orientation, the applicant will learn about the practices for the type of facility, including duties and responsibilities for the care and supervision of children. Orientation will set you and your business up for success.

Missouri Licensing (DESE)

If you are interested in opening a Licensed Family Home, the first step is to take the free Child Care Licensing Orientation.

The purpose of this orientation is to provide potential child care providers an overview of the licensing process so that you can decide if becoming a licensed child care provider is the right choice for you.

The Licensing Orientation is available in-person at all Child Care Compliance (CCC) offices. Attending in-person allows you the opportunity to meet CCC staff, receive answers to questions, and network with other potential providers. Contact your nearest CCC office for available dates and times.
The Licensing Orientation is also available online and can be taken at any time. The orientation will take approximately one hour to complete and records your contact information at the end of the orientation for tracking purposes. Click this link to take the Licensing Orientation today.
