Welcome to The Empire Academy, we're glad you found us! Few state endeavors match public education for scope and necessity. We at Empire appreciate that challenge and are here to assist districts across Northeast Ohio. Our name came from the short-lived, but inspiring Ohio state motto, "An Empire, Within an Empire". While we are just a small team, we believe we can contribute to the success of the districts we serve.
Our owner, Tom Fazekas, has ten years of experience in the classroom and close to a decade of service as a school administrator. He's served on two school boards, one as president. As a state-licensed superintendent he understands the challenges districts face in encouraging the growth of unique learners. He's committed to following the same tenants that guide our public partners including professionalism, transparency, fiscal responsibility, and most of all the belief that ALL students have the potential for growth and success!
Like us, this website is humble but will continue to grow. We also have sites on Instagram and BlueSky that we're looking to develop in the near future.

Who is eligible to attend The Empire Academy?
Students with a current IEP, in grades 1st through 12+ (Age 22).
Why do students attend the program year-round?
To maintain a consistent and predictable routine to help prevent regression and to maximize the effectiveness of instruction.
How are families notified of school closures due to inclement weather, etc.?
The Empire Academy will close if Barberton Local Schools is closed due to snow/inclement weather.
School closure notifications will be posted on the following local news stations:
Channels 3, 5, 8
We will also send text alerts to families.
How do families apply?

Normal School Hours : Monday - Friday 9:00am - 3:00pm
Summer Program Hours : Monday - Thursday 9:00am - 2:00pm
*We are closed on Fridays in June and July!*
