14th May 2019

10th May 2019 - Dear Parent / Guardian, Please read about our week at Glory Farm School and upcoming events.

Reminder – May Celebration – Thursday 23rd May

You are invited to join us as we celebrate the start of summer in style. All children will be performing traditional country dances, including Maypole. Please bring something to sit on (e.g. a blanket or chair). The PTA will also be offering refreshments and a selection of stalls at the end of the school day

Year 6 Tests

The year 6 tests are next week, so we will be trying to keep the school nice and quiet for this. Please can we keep the main office area as free as possible, especially at the start of the school day, when members of staff will be unlocking and distributing the paperwork across the school. Many thanks in anticipation for this!

Food and Baby Bank Parents / Carers may wish to be aware that Food Bank Vouchers are available, also Baby Bank Vouchers for qualifying families with children aged 0-5 years. If you would like either / both of these, please contact Helen Black, Family Liaison, 01869 244050.

McDonald's is being called on to stop its introduction of paper straws in the UK, amidst claims that they dissolve in drinks. The restaurant is switching from plastic to paper straws at all of their 1,361 restaurants after customer pressure. An online petition calling for a return to plastic straws has so far gathered more than 40,000 signatures. McDonald's have said they are "doing the right thing" while some customers feel that their needs should be considered.

Things to talk about at home…

Do you think people should be complaining about the paper straws not being as good as the plastic ones? Why?

Can you think of any everyday items that we throw away when perhaps they could be reused?
