Ecology + Personality Types

In continuing our look at identity and personality types, students were put into groups of four based on their Myers-Briggs Personality Type. Together, each member took on the role of one of Mario’s actions (Move Left, Move Right, Jump, Run/Fireball) in the original Super Mario Bros. using the MaKey MaKey. They had to work together as a team to get to the end of the level. Some personalities had some major conflicts before even stepping up to the MaKey MaKey. Other groups had amazing communication that allowed them to get to the end of the first level quite easily. All students were told the personality types of each group member and were asked to observe the players during the gameplay. Students took notes based on these observations and tried to determine which personality types worked best together. We also discussed the idea of jumping in video games and how jumping around is not something we do often in real life because most people aren't very good at it. That's why jumping in video games feels so good!
