The Coastal Link

Vision

The Coastal Link Trail is one of 12 Signature Trails in New Brunswick, and when complete, will connect the East Coast Green way (that runs from Calais, Maine, USA all the way to the Florida keys) with the rest of the Great Trail of Canada, that ends in Saint John, NB, but will take you all the way to British Columbia. When it is done, it will be the longest International Trail network in the world!

The Coastal Link trail will be either a crushed gravel path, a nice smooth and accessible paved asphalt walking trail, or a shared-use roadway trail. Whatever you're in the mood for, this trail will give you options to experience a safe way to bike, hike or walk some of the most breathtaking views in Southwest New Brunswick

St. Stephen Water Front Trail segment

What we've done

We are just getting started! In 2020, we built the very first segment of the trail along St. Stephen's beautiful waterfront. This trail segment is a paved, 2.5-meter wide trail allowing people young and old to experience it. Want to learn more? Check out a few of these videos which show the construction kick-off, and then the official ribbon cutting to open the trail!

Where to Next

Spanning from St. Stephen, NB to Saint John, NB and passing through every breathtaking location in between. This trail will be a truly unique way to experience the Southwest New Brunswick coast!

What's on the Horizon?

We are taking a unique approach to developing this almost 200-km trail. Instead of going from Point A to B in a nice straight line, we have decided to build the trail in segments.

We know trails are a great way for people to live a healthy, active lifestyle, and that philosophy is at the heart of some of the best communities people live in! So, we are focusing all of our energy into developing the segments of trail that pass through the communities the trail runs through first.

When we have built out the trails in all of the communities such as Saint Andrews, St. George, Lepreau, Pennfield , Saint John and some great destination spots like New River Beach, Spruce Lake and the Musquash Estuary; we will connect all of these beautiful trails together with a shared-use route along the highways and secondary highways between each destination!

We are hoping to have the trail connected from point A to point B by 2025, but it will all depend out how long it takes to raise funds.

What we can say for sure is that plans are in the works for all of these communities, so check back often or follow us on Facebook so you don't miss any big announcements of where we're heading to next!

In the mean time, start planning your trip by scrolling through pictures of the future trail locations!
