ILT Learning Walks are one essential component of Cycles of Professional Learning and is the ILT's primary data collection tool for measuring school-wide adoption and growth within a Cycle of Professional Learning. The process is meant to capture school-wide data and inform school-based professional development. Learning Walks also establish broad-based comparisons of progress along various the Close Reading indicators from year-to-year or cycle to cycle.
While Learning Walks have many benefits, they are limited in scope. Learning Walks will not collect individual teacher data and the process is not an evaluation tool of teacher performance.
Commodore's Close Reading Learning Walk Tool was developed using the indicators in the District's Teacher Tool Kit for Close Reading and include the three domains:

Each teacher will be visited one-time during from 2/29 to 06/04. Two members of the ILT will conduct the walk and will schedule the date/time with that teacher. Prior to the scheduled walk, teachers are being asked to provide the following information:
Schedule Description:
The first tab identifies the ILT member Pairing Team number as well as the observed teacher and the planning window in which the walk will take place. The ILT Pairing Team and the observed teacher will identify a specific time within the window.If a date is not currently listed, one will be scheduled shortly. The second tab identifies the ILT members on each Pairing Team. Walks will last between 10-15 minutes.
