This week and last week, we celebrated our PROUD assembly, highlighting the children’s fantastic demonstration of our PROUD values: Perseverance, Respect, Optimism, Unity, and Discovery. Throughout the week, every child has shown great effort, kindness, and curiosity in their learning and interactions, truly embodying the spirit of these values. We are incredibly proud of how our pupils live out PROUD in everything they do!
Reception class had a very special treat this week when Gary Northfield, a parent at our school and a talented author, came in to visit! Gary shared his wonderful books with the children and talked to them about how he draws and creates his characters from scratch. The children were especially excited to watch the illustrations come to life as he drew characters from his book Derek the Sheep right in front of them. They absolutely loved the experience and were captivated by seeing the images appear before their eyes!

This week KS2 were thrilled to welcome Fizzpop Science to Bedonwell Junior School! The children were amazed as they watched some incredible experiments during the assembly – it was a truly electrifying show! The reactions were priceless, and it was wonderful to see everyone so engaged and excited about science. A big thank you to Fizzpop Science for inspiring our young scientists!
We are proud to celebrate Bedonwell’s achievement of the Bronze Rights Respecting Award 🎉 This important milestone recognises our commitment to promoting children’s rights and creating a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment where every voice matters. Achieving Bronze shows that we are building a strong foundation of awareness around the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, and we look forward to continuing this journey together as a community. We are now on the way to achieving the Silver Award.
The girl's football team played their second set of League matches with confidence and determination, delivering two outstanding performances. They dominated both games from start to finish, securing impressive 4–0 victories in each. Their teamwork, skill, and positive attitude were excellent throughout, making it a fantastic achievement to be proud of.
During our computing lesson, we explored how QR codes work, including how they store information and how devices scan and decode them. Pupils discussed where QR codes are commonly used in everyday life before applying their understanding by taking part in an interactive QR code hunt around the classroom. This activity encouraged problem-solving, teamwork, and the practical use of digital technology in an engaging and hands-on way.
In English, Year 4 are writing their own quest stories. To make the task more exciting and help inspire their writing, the children were set a real-life quest around the school. They had to search for mythical creatures that had been hidden in different locations, following clues and using their imaginations to bring the adventure to life. This activity encouraged them to explore key elements of quest stories, such as adventure, setting, and characters, while sparking ideas for their own creative writing.

We are happy to welcome children who wish to ride their scooters and bikes to school. However, for everyone’s safety, children and adults must not ride their scooters or bikes around the KS2 playground or in our busy infant and junior milling areas before and after school. These areas can become crowded, and riding could lead to accidents or injuries. We appreciate your support in helping us keep our playgrounds safe for all our children and adults.
It is really important for all children to drink water throughout the day, which is why children need to bring a water bottle into school. However, can we please ask that children only bring in either a disposable plastic or re-usable plastic water bottle.
Some children are bringing in large metal water bottles which when knocked over can cause disruption in the class.
Please can we also ask that Airup water bottles are not brought into school, these are expensive and can sometimes be knocked over in a busy classroom and damaged or broken.
