It has been a busy and exciting week at Bedonwell! 🌟 Our JRSOs did a fantastic job presenting their Road Safety assembly to KS1, helping our younger pupils learn how to stay safe. We were also pleased to welcome Charlton, who spoke to the children about the importance of respect in school. On top of this, we loved welcoming families in for the first of our Nursery open days, as we begin preparing for our new nursery intake starting this September. A great week full of learning, teamwork, and community!
This week, our whole school had the exciting opportunity to welcome a special visitor from Charlton Football Academy. The children took part in an engaging session focused on the importance of respect in sport, learning how to accept game decisions positively, show good sportsmanship, and win (and lose) with grace.
Through discussion and practical examples, pupils were reminded what it means to play the right way, support teammates, and treat others with fairness and respect both on and off the pitch. It was a valuable and inspiring experience that reinforced important life skills alongside a love of sport.
A huge thank you to Charlton Football Academy for an excellent visit!
Our Year 3 children enjoyed a hands-on DT lesson where they explored and tasted a variety of different foods 🥕🧀🍎. It was a fun and engaging way to develop their design and technology skills while encouraging curiosity and thoughtful discussion about food choices.
Our school Junior Road Safety Officers (JRSOs) recently visited KS1 to deliver a special assembly all about staying safe on the roads. They shared important tips on how to cross safely, be aware of traffic, and why it is especially important to be seen during the winter months. The JRSOs did a fantastic job presenting confidently and helping our younger pupils understand how small actions, like wearing bright or reflective clothing, can make a big difference to keeping themselves safe.
This week and last week, we celebrated our PROUD assembly, highlighting the children’s fantastic demonstration of our PROUD values: Perseverance, Respect, Optimism, Unity, and Discovery. Throughout the week, every child has shown great effort, kindness, and curiosity in their learning and interactions, truly embodying the spirit of these values. We are incredibly proud of how our pupils live out PROUD in everything they do!

We are happy to welcome children who wish to ride their scooters and bikes to school. However, for everyone’s safety, children and adults must dismount their scooters or bikes before entering the gates. Please do not ride any scooter or bike around the KS2 playground or in our busy infant and junior milling areas before and after school. These areas can become crowded, and riding could lead to accidents or injuries. We appreciate your support in helping us keep our playgrounds safe for all our children and adults.
It is really important for all children to drink water throughout the day, which is why children need to bring a water bottle into school. However, can we please ask that children only bring in either a disposable plastic or re-usable plastic water bottle.
Some children are bringing in large metal water bottles which when knocked over can cause disruption in the class.
Please can we also ask that Airup water bottles are not brought into school, these are expensive and can sometimes be knocked over in a busy classroom and damaged or broken.
