Bedonwell Infant & Nursery School

It has been an incredibly busy, exciting, and fun-filled end to the term here at school! The children have taken part in a wide range of memorable experiences, starting with the Reception and Year 3 trip to Kent Life, where they had a fantastic time exploring and learning outside the classroom. We were also delighted by the wonderful CRIBS Easter performance, which showcased the children’s enthusiasm, confidence, and creativity. Red Nose Day brought lots of laughter and colour to the school, with everyone getting involved in the spirit of the day while supporting a great cause. To top it all off, Year 6 stepped back in time for their brilliant World War II Day, fully immersing themselves in history through engaging activities and experiences.

It has truly been a term full of energy, achievement, and special moments that the children should be very proud of. We would like to thank all of our families for your continued support. We hope you all have a restful, happy, and well-deserved Easter holiday, and we look forward to seeing everyone refreshed and ready for more exciting learning after the break!

Bedonwell's Readathon

Our Leap into Action sponsored Readathon happened on Monday 16th March 📚✨

The children kicked off Readathon 2026 with a brilliant reading assembly, where they shared their favourite books and then settled down to enjoy some quiet reading time together. It was wonderful to see everyone so engaged and absorbed in their stories! 📖🌟

Classes across the school each completed up to an hour of reading throughout the day—what a fantastic achievement!

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to all parents, carers, and sponsors for their generous support. So far, we have raised an impressive £964 online, along with over £200 in cash donations.

A wonderful effort by everyone involved—well done!

Year 3 Kent Life

Year 3 had an unforgettable trip to Kent Life, where they stepped back in time to explore the fascinating world of the Ancient Egyptians. The children took part in exciting hands-on workshops, discovering how people lived, worked, and celebrated in Egyptian times. Alongside their learning, they enjoyed a variety of fun activities and had the chance to meet and observe some of the farm’s friendly animals. It was a fantastic day full of learning, laughter, and memorable experiences for everyone involved!

CRIBS Easter performance

We were delighted to welcome CRIBS in to school for a wonderful performance of the Easter story for both KS1 and KS2. The children were fully engaged and thoroughly enjoyed the interactive storytelling, which brought the meaning of Easter to life in a fun and memorable way. A big thank you to the team for such an inspiring and enjoyable experience!

Red Nose Day

Both Bedonwell Infant and Nursery School and Bedonwell Junior School were full of energy and excitement as both children and staff came together to celebrate Red Nose Day in support of Comic Relief. Everyone got involved by dressing in red for the day, creating a vibrant sea of colour across the school. From red outfits and accessories to creative costumes, the effort and enthusiasm were fantastic to see. Most importantly, the event helped raise valuable funds, all of which went directly to Comic Relief to support people in need. It was a wonderful example of our school community coming together to make a difference while having fun.

Year 6 World War II Day

Year 6 had a fantastic World War II Day full of history, hands-on learning, and lots of fun! 🪖🎉 The children stepped back in time, dressing up in authentic WWII-themed clothes, from evacuees with little gas masks to brave soldiers, bringing history to life right here in school.

Year 6 got to try their hand at a variety of wartime activities, including baking traditional WWII biscuits, discovering what life was like on the home front, and experiencing the thunderous sound of a real air raid siren, which certainly gave them a taste of the tension people felt during air raids. But perhaps the most exciting part was exploring our very own air raid shelter, tucked away beneath the school. Peering down into this piece of history, the children learned about how it would have kept people safe during bombing raids and imagined what it must have been like to hide there.

The day was made even more special by a visit from Miss Bartholomew’s grandad, Tom, who at 108 years old is the oldest person in Bexley! The children were spellbound as he shared stories of his childhood and life during the war, offering a real, living connection to history that made the events of WWII feel incredibly real.

It was a truly memorable day full of learning, laughter, and inspiration—and one that our children will not forget! 🌟

We give our time to help the school, to plan events with cheer,

Fizzpop Science club

Children across KS2 recently took part in the exciting Fizzpop Science Club, where curiosity and creativity were brought to life through hands-on exploration. Throughout the sessions, pupils had the opportunity to investigate a range of scientific concepts, from chemical reactions to forces and materials. They thoroughly enjoyed taking part in a variety of fun and fascinating experiments, sparking their interest in science and encouraging them to ask questions, make predictions, and think like real scientists. The club was a fantastic experience, filled with discovery, teamwork, and plenty of “wow” moments!

This week and last week, we celebrated our PROUD assembly, highlighting the children’s fantastic demonstration of our PROUD values: Perseverance, Respect, Optimism, Unity, and Discovery. Throughout the week, every child has shown great effort, kindness, and curiosity in their learning and interactions, truly embodying the spirit of these values. We are incredibly proud of how our pupils live out PROUD in everything they do!

We are excited to announce our new school uniform! All the guidance and details about the updated uniform, including what to wear and how to order, can be found on our school website. Please dismount your scooter or bike when entering our school grounds

We are happy to welcome children who wish to ride their scooters and bikes to school. However, for everyone’s safety, children and adults must dismount their scooters or bikes before entering the gates. Please do not ride any scooter or bike around the KS2 playground or in our busy infant and junior milling areas before and after school. These areas can become crowded, and riding could lead to accidents or injuries. We appreciate your support in helping us keep our playgrounds safe for all our children and adults.

Water bottles

It is really important for all children to drink water throughout the day, which is why children need to bring a water bottle into school. However, can we please ask that children only bring in either a disposable plastic or re-usable plastic water bottle.

Some children are bringing in large metal water bottles which when knocked over can cause disruption in the class.

Please can we also ask that Airup water bottles are not brought into school, these are expensive and can sometimes be knocked over in a busy classroom and damaged or broken.
