25 pupils from year 6 represented Bedonwell School in a recent swimming gala against 5 other Bexley schools. All of them were tremendous in each of the swimming races and they all represented the school amazingly! Bedonwell finished in 2nd place which is amazing! The children shared their success in our celebration assembly where they each collected a certificate and medal for their achievement!
Some of our KS2 children recently visited Hurstmere School to play in a Boccia festival. The children played different versions of Boccia, using tunnels and bowling from a seated position.
June has been the busiest month in the FOBS Calendar! We began the month with our Reception disco- the children had a brilliant time at their first ever school disco and the DJ had a hard time choosing our dance competition winners!
Father’s and Marvellous Men day sales went fantastically- nearly clearing all the stock and we raised a brilliant amount of money too! The children really enjoy coming to our pop-up shop and choosing gifts to give the special people in their lives.
Finally we had our Inflatables Day and Summer Fair! The inflatables were bigger and better than last year and we hope they wore your children out! Thank you to all the teachers and staff who stayed and helped after school at the fair. We had delicious food on offer, wonderful external stalls, and our loyal volunteers to help run our fair games. Thank you as always for your amazing support for our events, the money you help to raise is very gratefully received by everyone at the school. The fundraising amounts, and the donations we have made to the schools, will be coming in the July edition of the newsletter.
Recently art club have been exploring abstract art. The children have experimented different ways to depict abstract nouns to describe themselves using colours and shapes before using masking tape to create geometric paintings.
They have also been creating some wonderful paintings using string which they painted and then pulled along their sketch book to create different patterns.
84 pupils from year 6 went to Marchants Hill, a PGL camp, for their residential school journey. The children had a wonderful time and really enjoyed all the amazing activities such as abseiling, zip lining, raft building and many more!
The children in year 6 that did not go on the school journey also had a terrific time at school. They went bowling, made pizzas and took part in DT and sports workshops.
Check out some of the photos from the week.
In our KS1 DT club the children have been very busy making moving pictures and pop up pictures, they have worked really hard and they all look terrific!
In June, year 4 went on their school trip to Sea Life in London. They saw so many fantastic creatures and learnt lots about their habitats and how these animals have adapted to their environments.

They can be awarded the 'Always Award' four times throughout the year starting with the Bronze Always Award, then Silver Always Award, then Gold Aways Award and building up to the Platinum Always Award!

Last of term for all pupils - class picnics to be held in the afternoon - please provide your child with a small snack and drink to have at the picnic - no nuts, fizzy drinks or glass bottles please. If the weather is forecast to be hot, please ensure your child has sunscreen and a sun hat. (A reminder will be sent nearer the time.)
We as a school have noticed a number of children in upper KS2 have used or are using Snapchat or WhatsApp. The guidance below gives you and your child some useful tips on how to stay safe.
Recently we have noticed some children have come into school wearing either Apple, Samsung or Fitbit smart watches. We would like to remind parents and pupils that this is not part of the school uniform and should not be brought in or worn in school - any child wearing a smart watch in school will be asked to give it to their teacher to lock away for the day and this will be given back at the end of the day to take home.
With the weather getting better and warmer temperatures expected over the coming weeks to ensure your child stays cool and protected from the sun please make sure they have:
A bottle of water (not frozen as this can leak all over the tables).
A hat.
Sunscreen - please ensure this is put onto your child before school and if they have it with them in school they know how to apply to themselves.
The Bedonwell Federation has our own Twitter page, this page is updated on a regular basis with a range of different events, activities and amazing work the children across our school produce every day! If you have Twitter, please give us a follow and like and retweet the posts on our wall.

We also have a twitter page for KS2 art club and KS2 football clubs. There links are below:
Please see the guidance for school uniform below:
Grey sweatshirt (preferably with the school logo or otherwise plain)
Grey sweat cardigan (preferably with the school logo or otherwise plain)
Sky blue polo shirt (preferably with the school logo or otherwise plain)
Grey tailored trousers or grey tailored shorts
Grey skirt
Grey pinafore dress
Light blue & white checked dress (summer)
Navy blue, black or grey tights or white socks
Hair bands (small) in school colours only (grey, white or sky blue)
Where hijabs are worn they must be in the school colours of either blue, white or grey.
Pupils should at all times have suitable coats for outdoor wear, to cater for changeable weather.
Footwear must be plain black shoes or trainers.
For PE the children wear their PE kit for the whole school day on the day of their PE lesson (you will be notified which day/s these are). This has enabled pupils not only to receive maximum learning time for their PE lessons, but also a reduction in PE clothing being lost/misplaced.
PE kit expectations are:
Plain T-shirt in their ‘house colour’
Grey school jumper (plain- no branded clothing)
Grey shorts, grey tracksuit joggers or grey leggings (plain-no branded clothing).
Plain black trainers.
The children will be expected to wear their grey school jumper or grey sweatshirt with grey shorts, joggers or leggings and will therefore remain in school colours on their PE day.
It is also essential that trainers worn on PE days are plain black as this will ensure consistency across the school with our uniform expectations.
All uniform mentioned above can be found at Boffins and Caseys, Links to their websites can be found below:
