We are incredibly proud of our Year 6! They have worked so hard this year and put in so much effort during SATs week. They have shown amazing resilience and perseverance, and we know that everyone has done their best.
These tests don't assess what amazing individuals they are. They don't show that every one in Year 6 is special and unique, and that they all have many talents. They do not show that they may be an incredible dancer, a born performer, play a musical instrument, a computer whizz, keen basketball player or a fabulous footballer. They also do not show the wonderful values that they show every single day. They do not show what a kind friend they are, how they help the younger children in our school, or how their smile makes others smile with them.
They are smart, brilliant and amazing individuals. No test can ever measure that!
A big thank you to our teachers and staff for their dedication and support. They have created a wonderful learning environment for our Year 6 children.
Have a lovely half term break.
Year 4 took part in a wonderful Anglo-Saxon and Viking workshop last week. The children got to dress up and use some of the weapons the Anglo-Saxons and Vikings used, they also learnt a lot about life in those times.
Year 5 have been on their school trip to Greenwich. They went to the Greenwich Maritime Museum to see some of the artefacts and displays that relate to their History and Science topics. They also got to have lunch and play some games in Greenwich Park. The children really enjoyed their trip!
Year 1 went on a wonderful school trip to Eagle heights as part of their science topic.
The children really enjoyed seeing not just the eagles but all of the other animals as well. They also got to see a special performance from one of the eagles!
In DT, the children in Year 1 have been designing, making and evaluating their ‘Little Red Riding Hood’ character puppets.
They have used their sewing and cutting techniques to make some awesome puppets! Well done.
Classes have been busy working hard to publish some of the brilliant writing they have done this year.
Every class now has their own writing display board which displays the excellent writing children have done in their 'Hot tasks'.
Some of the genres of writing include: warning stories, newspapers, diary writing, information texts and even poetry. Here are some of the writing displays around the school.
This term the football season for the boys officially ended.
The Year 6 Boys team played in the Bexley District League Cup final. Having won their league already, the boys had to play against the other 4 winners of their leagues. They won all four matches (3-0, 3-0, 3-2 and 3-0) and won the overall Bexley District League Cup! This is the oldest trophy in Bexley School's Football with the first winners being in 1950. This is the 7th time in the school's history that we have lifted this cup the last being in 2015. This is a huge achievement. Well Done Boys!
The Year 6 B team got to play a friendly against our local rivals Belmont School. Some of the boys had been regulars at our weekly football training but had not had the chance to represent he school.
The team played brilliantly, those that had played and those that had not, worked together like a team that had been playing for years! On a difficult pitch against a good opposition the boys came out 2-0 winners. Well done Boys!
The Girls' team played two league game friendlies to end our season with both ending in draws. The girls' have been a credit to the school and demonstrated our PROUD values in every match. Huge congratulations to Harper for receiving Player of the Tournament for Bedonwell.
Year 3 In their science topic started learning about Light. We know light travels in straight lines and when an object blocks the light, it creates a shadow. They went outside to observe their shadows and recorded what they found.
Thank you to everyone that has supported FOBS this half term!
Our new logo entries were absolutely fantastic, thank you to everyone that took part. We are excited to announce that the winner is Ben Kumar!! Check out his amazing design.
The colour run was another huge success! So many smiling faces and children covered in rainbow covered powder! Thank you to all those that purchased tickets and our superstar helpers that took time out of their weekend to volunteer for us! Keep your eyes peeled for our colour run video coming soon!
We had the year 1 disco this week and they all seemed to have a great time! They showcased some brilliant dance moves and 6 lucky winners got prizes during the dance competition! So great to see so many of them there.
Next term brings our ‘ Father’s and Marvellous Men sales’, Reception and Nursery discos, as well as the Summer Fair and Inflatable day to finish off this academic year!
Have a restful half term everyone
FOBS Committee
Nursery have been exploring seasonal changes and looking for signs of Spring. They have used some of things collected from the Nursery learning garden and some things from home to make fairy and dinosaur gardens; now they are using them to tell their own stories.

It is really important for all children to drink water throughout the day, which is why children need to bring a water bottle into school. However, can we please ask that children only bring in either a disposable plastic or re-usable plastic water bottle.
Some children are bringing in large metal water bottles which when knocked over can cause disruption in the class.
Please can we also ask that Airup water bottles are not brought into school, these are expensive and can sometimes be knocked over in a busy classroom and damaged or broken.
Following an incident after school on Thursday 15th May involving one of our families, we would like to share their petition link with you.
The safety of all our children and families is our priority and your support in this matter would be gratefully received.
Please click on the link below:
When dropping off or collecting your children from school please may we remind you to park safely and considerately. We are receiving an increasing number of complaints from local residents on all our surrounding roads reporting that parents are parking across driveways, on the zig zag lines on occasion, double parking to let children out of the car and have been verbally aggressive to residents.
Over the next few months the local PCSOs and Bexley’s Parking Enforcement Team will be patrolling the area to remind people about road safety and are able to issue tickets and fines to owners of vehicles parked incorrectly.
Residents can also report incorrect parking themselves online at:
We would be grateful for your co-operation in parking considerately to ensure our continuing good relationships with the local residents.
Finally a reminder to please keep your children with you at all times in the playground and milling areas particularly if they have a scooter/bike with them.
For the safety of all we ask that children do not ride scooters and bikes etc whilst on the school sites and that they do not ride unaccompanied on the pavements outside the school.
