As we come to the end of the school year 2025/2026 - we would like to say a big thank you and farewell to some of our members of staff.
Mrs Bartlett – teacher, who is beginning a new chapter in her life after 17 years at Bedonwell.
Mrs Badham– teacher, who is relocating with her family after 15 years at Bedonwell.
Miss Mullarkey – teacher, who has plans to travel.
Mrs Parsons - teacher, who has chosen a different career path.
Mrs Haley – learning support mentor, who is taking early retirement after nearly 24 years at Bedonwell.
Mrs Roffey – cleaner, who is retiring.
Mrs Forsdyke - Lead SEN TA who has been at the school just over 11 years who is moving on to pastures new.
Their commitment and care have changed the lives of many of our children and families and I am sure you will join with me in thanking each of them for their hard work and wishing them all the very best for the future.
Year 6 have all worked extremely hard throughout their time in both Bedonwell Infant and Nursery and Junior Schools. They have each worked on our PROUD values and have all shown Perseverance, Respect, Optimism, Unity and Discovery. We would all like to wish them the very best for next year in their new secondary school. Believe in yourself, because we do. You can achieve anything!
Our Year 2s did an excellent job at recreating the story of Stella the Starfish, with their lovely singing and fantastic dance move!
Stella the Starfish explores the theme of being helpful to others. When Stella is found, lost and alone, by two children, they agree to help her find her family. They are transported into the ocean by a magic shell and seek the advice of the colourful sea creatures. None are able or willing to help, except for Sid the singing shark, who helps to reunite them with Stella's family.
Year 6 raised the roof with two amazing performances of Porridge! The performances were excellent and all of the children joined in with acting, singing and some brilliant dance routines that accompanied the music! A massive well done to them all for their great performances.
The Year 2 pupils had their mini fair in the last week of term. The Year 1s and Year 3s all came to the fair to spend their money on lots of different items. The fair was a huge success and the children raised £122.84 for the NSPCC! Well done Year 2!
The KS2 choir club gave a superb performance to their parents and carers. Mrs Webb and the Bedonwell choir sung the songs they have been practicing throughout the year and they sang them all amazingly! Well done for your wonderful singing and to all of those that have attended choir club this year in KS2.
Some of our CU children accumulated enough stamps to be invited to the end of year Children’s University Graduation Ceremony for 2025.
It is a fantastic achievement, and we are so proud of your child’s achievements!
During the ceremony the children were presented with their graduation certificates and gifts and they had a chance to have their photo taken after the ceremony.
It was wonderful seeing how much the children enjoyed being a part of the Children’s University and we are looking forward to continuing to explore new Learning Destinations and activities that your child can take part in.

The children thoroughly enjoyed playing against Belmont in a fun baseball event.
All children showed fantastic sportsmanship and had fun practising their baseball skills.
Year 2 had an amazing time on their trip to the Tower of London which linked to their history topic 'Monarchs'. They had so much fun exploring the White Tower, taking part in a 'Knights and Castles' workshop and their favourite part - seeing the Crown Jewels!
Year 1 have been learning about money. They walked to Sainsbury's Local and bought two items using coins.
‘FOBS would like to thank everyone for their support with our events this academic year. Every person that volunteered, purchased tickets, bought items, and contributed donations, has helped support our effort to raise funds for our children at school. We have created some wonderful memories this year and we hope your children have enjoyed being part of it.
Our Summer fair and Inflatable day was a big hit, with our biggest turn out yet. Despite the heat, so much fun was had by everyone. Reception and nursery had their school discos and they were so cute dancing away!
The dental nurse came to visit Stay & Play and the children had fun brushing teeth on the puppet and talking about our oral health.
We have provided leavers gifts to year 2 moving on from the infant school, and to year 6 as they get ready to leave Bedonwell. We wish them every success in their new schools!
This year, we sadly say goodbye to Sarah as Treasurer for FOBS and we thank her for all her hard work over the years.
We have lots of events planned for next year, including our popular firework night on the 8th November. We hope we can continue to rely on your support going forward, when schools need funding more than ever. Without volunteers, our ideas can’t get off the page and we are truly thankful to those that are always on hand to offer their time. If you are interested in getting involved, please email fobsbedonwell@gmail.com and we can add you to our Whatsapp group where we often ask for helpers or items we need.
We wish you all a restful Summer break and look forward to seeing you in the new academic year.’
It is really important for all children to drink water throughout the day, which is why children need to bring a water bottle into school. However, can we please ask that children only bring in either a disposable plastic or re-usable plastic water bottle with a sealable lid.
Some children are bringing in large metal water bottles which when knocked over can cause disruption in the class.
Please can we also ask that Airup water bottles are not brought into school, these are expensive and can sometimes be knocked over in a busy classroom and damaged or broken.
We have also had occasions where Stanley Cups have leaked water into childrens' bags on the way to and from school. These bottles do not seal and when tipped will leak. These have been knocked over in class which has caused damage to some of our books.
