This month, the children across both schools took part in the RSPB National Birdwatch, identifying and logging the birds they could see in the school grounds. In the photos you can see Year 3 looking for birds in our garden area.
Exciting news! We have been recognised for the work we are doing in school to save nature and as a result we have been granted the School For Nature award. Alongside our Birdwatching, EYFS and KS1 have been busy planting new plants across the school and tending to our garden areas. Check out our certificate signed by Sir David Attenborough.
The Infant and Nursery school have been awarded the Healthy Schools London Bronze Award.
Healthy Schools London (HSL) is an Awards Programme that supports London’s schools to provide an environment and culture that helps their pupils grow up to be healthy, happy and wanting to learn by improving both their physical and mental health. It is sponsored by the Mayor of London and is delivered by the Greater London Authority.
Our new school library was officially opened in January. A massive THANK YOU to FOBS (Friends of Bedonwell), for raising some of the money which was used to purchase brand new furniture and books for the library.
The children from both the Infant and Nursery School and Junior School have all had the opportunity to to visit the library with their classes and enjoy some of the new reading books, newspapers and information texts available. They have all had time to sit and read in the new library and have a wide range of different books to choose from.
Our Library was officially opened by Gary NorthField, a parent of the school and an author of the Julius Zebra and Derek the Sheep books.
Here are some photos of our library opening and the children enjoying all the books.
Each week the KS2 Choir practiced their songs to perform for Young Voices. In January they had the opportunity to perform alongside hundreds of different schools at the Young Voices event at the 02. They all really enjoyed the concert and sang beautifully throughout! So did the staff!
Year 4 loved taking part in the 2024-2025 Inner London Cricket Programme. They all got to practice their cricket skills and play some fun cricket games. They are now looking forward to attending an inter-school cricket festival in the summer term.
Year 2 have been learning about flight in their History lessons. They spoke about how the first flight was significant because it inspired people to keep trying to fly further around the world and adapt aircraft to carry more people and travel to more destinations. We talked about holidays that we have been to on an aeroplane. This week Mr Nelson came into our class to speak to us about his job as an Aircraft Engineer. We listened, looked at photos and asked questions. Then we flew paper aeroplanes and spoke about Lift, Weight, Drag and Thrust.
All of the children across the Infant, Nursery and Junior schools took part in NSPCC Number Day - there were some brilliant costumes across the schools that all had a number theme. The children also got to take part in some fun number and maths activities throughout the day.
Hello everyone!
This January saw year 5 enjoy their school disco and we are celebrating year 6’s final Bedonwell disco after half term! Don’t forget to purchase your tickets this week!
Our lovely DJ ensures all the kids have a blast and we are always so impressed with the kids dance moves. Thank you to our superstar parent helpers at these events!
On Friday 14th we celebrated Love and Kindness day at school and invited the children to wear red or pink for a donation of £1 to FOBS. Thank you to all those who contributed!
Following our annual AMM last week, we have some exciting purchase requests from the school. We are currently trying to raise money for shade sails, more info coming soon!

KS2 have had the opportunity to join an after school cookery club. They have been been making lots of delicious food this term. In the images here they made vegetable sticks with a delicious feta dip.
We have launched our new School Values this term.
PROUD - Perseverence, Respect, Optimism, Unity, Discovery.
In both school offices, along the corridors and in every class we have displayed our PROUD signs, children have learnt about our PROUD values in assemblies and have started to earn dojos that are linked to our PROUD values. We have also launched the PROUD awards which are given out to children who have shown one or more of our PROUD values that week!
Check out the images below to see who has achieved a PROUD award across the schools this week!
Thank you once again to FOBS for paying for the signage, without their support this would have not been possible.

The girls football team have been playing brilliantly this term in their league games. They showed excellent teamwork and unity and played really well in all of their league games scoring some great goals. Well done girls!
The boys football team have continued their winning streak in their league campaign by beating Barnehust School 9-0. A terrific performance from the team especially as we had some players making their first appearances for the school.
Having won the Bexley tournament earlier this academic year, the Year 6 Boys Football Team represented Bexley in the Kent county tournament (for the first time in Bedonwell's history), playing against other district winners across Kent.
The group games were extremely tight with all of our group games ending in a draw. Bedonwell went through to the semi-finals on goal difference. We then won our semi-final game 1-0.
In the final we played River School from Dover district, it was tight game where we had the majority of the chances but just could not find the back of the net. In the penalty shootout we came out as winners winning the penalty shootout 4-3!
The boys will now represent Kent in the Southern Regional Finals in March. This is a massive achievement for Bedonwell Junior School as this is the first time we have won this competition, and for Bexley as they have not progressed to this stage of the tournament for several years. Well done to the team!

Navy blue, black or grey tights or white socks

Pupils should at all times have suitable coats for outdoor wear, to cater for changeable weather.
Footwear must be plain black shoes or trainers.
Children wear their PE kit for the whole school day on the day of their PE lesson (you will be notified which day/s these are). This enables pupils not only to receive maximum learning time for their PE lessons, but also a reduces PE clothing being lost/misplaced.
PE kit expectations are:

Grey school jumper (plain- no branded clothing)
