All of the staff at Bedonwell would like to wish all of our parents and children a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year and we are really looking forward to seeing you all in the New Year!
Bedonwell took part in Children In Need Day. Children could dress up in yellow, something spotty or in Pudsey outfits. We had competitions throughout the day which helped raise money for Children In Need.
Year 3 attended a Major League Baseball LSEAT event with Belmont School. All the children showed our school games values of respect and teamwork - well done!
Also four of our Year 4 pupils took part in the Bexley School Games Badminton Festival. They had a great afternoon and really enjoyed playing badminton.
Year 3 have been busy designing and making their own cushions. They used their sewing skills to help create their cushions and they also designed their own design to go on the front.
Year 5 had a Roots To Food workshop organised by our kitchen staff this term. The children got to follow a recipe and ended up making a delicious curry, we definitely have some future chefs in our Year 5 cohort!
Year 2 had a very exciting trip this term. They visited St Andrews Parish Church and got to meet our local Reverend Sulaiman Shazard. They learnt a lot about the church, listened to a sermon and even got to dress in some of the ceremonial robes - they had a wonderful morning.
On Friday the 6th December the whole school took part in the daily mile Santa Run! Children completed their daily mile dressed in festive outfits!
Two boys in Year 5 have been working hard in their writing this term. Out of school they have written their very own scary story which has now been published into a book. They have worked really hard and have written fantastic scary stories.
Year 1 had three performances of 'The Magical Christmas Journey’. The children all played their parts brilliantly, they sang their songs wonderfully and said their lines very clearly and loudly. The audiences for all three shows really enjoyed the terrific performances.
This start to the academic year has been epic!
So far we have held two discos - Years 3 & 4.
We saw some crazy hair styles on our fundraising day!
We had a really successful fireworks night raising just over a whopping £4000 for the school.
Elfridges was popular and lots of children visited and bought gifts for their loved ones for Christmas. And we rounded up the term with our Winter Fair!
Thank you to everyone that has supported us this year, particularly to our new volunteers that joined to help. A special thanks to all members of staff that helped at the fireworks and Winter Fair and enabled us to be able to run these events.
We wish you all a peaceful break and look forward to seeing all the children at our events in the New Year!

Year 6 had their Christmas Carol service at St Andrews Parish Church in December. Each Year 6 class sang some festive carols to their parents as well as learning all about the story of Christmas.
Nursey, Reception, Year 2, Year 3, Year 4 and Year 5 all sang some wonderful carols in school to their parents. They all sang beautifully with some carols performances including the use of sign language alongside the singing.
All the children and adults got to wear their Christmas jumpers on Christmas dinner day. The children loved wearing their santa hats and the Christmas dinner was wonderful.
On the last day of term Nursery, Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 had a very special visitor come round to deliver them some very special class presents!
We had a brilliant treat at the end of this term. Our Rocksteady children gave the school and parents a terrific show of all the instruments they have been playing throughout the term. The performances were amazing.
Every week, children who follow our Golden Values in Bedonwell are chosen for the 'Always Award.' The children who receive the award have really impressed their class teacher by showing many or all of our seven Golden Values which are:
Manners, Respect, Teamwork, Stickability, Honesty, Kindness, Calmness.
They can be awarded the 'Always Award' four times throughout the year starting with the Bronze Always Award, then Silver Always Award, then Gold Aways Award and building up to the Platinum Always Award.
Check out some of the children who have achieved the awards below:
The Girls football team started their football league campaign with a loss and then a 2-0 victory. The girls played excellently in their first games together for the school showing great teamwork and resilience. Well done Girls!
The Year 6 boys football teams have had a busy half term.
The A team played and won their first league game at Bexleyheath Goals against Royal Park Primary School 8-2! They all played brilliantly and were worthy winners of the game. They will play their next league game in the new year.
