Updates from year 2

This term we have introduced play leaders in Year 2. Two pupils from each class have been chosen to look after our play equipment at break times. It's a great responsibility and so far they are doing a great job! Play Leaders are a group of caring children who have been trained to organise activities for other children on the playground. They encourage children to join in games and to extend their friendships.

Girls' Football team!

The girls' football team had another brilliant evening at Goals this month playing three games as part of their league competition. They won all 3 league games 1-0, 3-1, and 4-1! which is absolutely terrific! Mr White, the girls football team coach, was incredibly impressed and after these three wins Bedonwell are now top of the league having won all 6 of their league games so far!

Boys' football team

On Friday the boys team played their next league game against Pelham School. They played amazingly and drew the game 2-2. A fantastic effort was made by all the boys but a special mention has to go to Jimmy who smashed in a beautiful goal from the halfway line in the first half and almost did it again in the second half with his effort hitting the crossbar!

A thought for us all at Bedonwell

As a school we now have a thought for us all, this is said in every assembly and also said in class at the end of the day as a means of quiet reflection and a discussion point, for the day the children have had and will have when they next come back into school.

Take a look at A thought for us all at Bedonwell.

Choir club in KS2

A new choir club has started this week in KS2 for years 5 and 6! The children who have signed up will stay after school on Tuesdays to practice and learn some songs for an upcoming performance, so watch this space!

Bedonwell School Councils

Both of our school councils have been extremely busy so far this term. Below are some of the activities they have been working on:

EYFS/KS1

EYFS/ KS1 school council are working on the theme of our community, this includes the school community and the local community. Things we have done include;

1) Evaluating our playground environment- saying what we like/don’t like and would change.

2) Thinking about recycling.

3) Thinking about our outside areas.

4) Entering a competition with Colgate about teeth cleaning.

KS2

In KS2, the school council have all been presenting to each class  about new equipment we could get for lunchtimes. They created their own powerpoint and linked it to our golden values.  They have also been involved in setting up activities for children in need, collecting donations and making posters. They will now be looking into the lunchtime menu and will be having a meeting with the caterers after the half term.

Safer Internet Day

Safer Internet Day (SID) is almost here – on Tuesday, 7 February 2023, we will be part of millions around the globe, joining forces for the theme “Together for a better internet”. This year is extra special, as it celebrates the 20th anniversary of this international day. As a school we will be working on some special activities throughout the day.

School Uniform reminder

Please see the guidance for school uniform below:

PE kit reminder

For PE the children wear their PE kit for the whole school day on the day of their PE lesson (you will be notified which day/s these are). This has enabled pupils not only to receive maximum learning time for their PE lessons, but also a reduction in PE clothing being lost/misplaced.

PE kit expectations are:

The children will be expected to wear their grey school jumper or grey sweatshirt with grey shorts, joggers or leggings and will therefore remain in school colours on their PE day.

It is also essential that trainers worn on PE days are plain black as this will ensure consistency across the school with our uniform expectations.
