Our Vision

Our vision is to promote and develop literacy among all age groups and populations, particularly for African American people and other underserved and disenfranchised citizens in our population.

Our Mission

We are human beings who believe that literacy is a civil and human right. Our mission is to improve the literacy of Americans of all ages with an emphasis on serving African American people. We will do this by: using evidence-based practices to engage participants, providing professional development to educators and other instructors, teaching courses to all age groups, and engaging in research that studies how literacy is developed in humans. We want to accomplish all of this to help citizens participate in the American democratic process.
