ESS (Extended School Services):
ESS will begin before and after school tutoring the week of September 16th. Math and Social Studies will be held on Tuesday afternoons from 3:30-4:15, English on Thursday mornings from 8:00-8:30, and Science on Thursday afternoons from 3:30-4:15.
Students can join the ESS Google Classroom page (ttdxuxb) for information on working teachers and locations of each session.
ACT Prep Sessions:
Collegiate Corner Learning Center offers college prep, and tutoring for grades K-12. Please see attached fliers for more detail. Collegiate Corner
Driver License Requirement:
Students needing to fulfill their Graduated Driver Licensing requirement can register for a free class by going to www.kentuckysafedriver.com and clicking on the Alive at 25 links located under Courses or by calling 502/699-2295. The next course is offered on Thursday, October 25th at The Frankfort Christian Academy from 4:00-8:00 and Monday, November 18th at Western Hills from 4:30 pm to 8:30 pm.
Youth Salute Scholarships - Applications are due September 27, 2024:
The purpose of this program is to honor high school juniors in your community who maintain a high scholastic average and have demonstrated leadership ability. There are over $112,000 in scholarship awards given.
In order to be eligible for this program, students must be high school juniors (senior class of 2026). Have at least a cumulative 3.0 G.P.A. through their sophomore year. (Any student who attains a 3.0 G.P.A. by the end of the fall semester of their junior year may submit a late nomination by January 15th, 2025.)Have held TWO LEADERSHIP ROLES to which they were chosen by their peers or an adult leader within the past two years in school, religious or community sponsored organizations.

PSAT:
The PSAT will be offered at Western Hills on October 23rd during the school day. Any student in grades 9-11 can sign up to take the exam. The Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) is a standardized test designed to help students prepare for the SAT or ACT and to qualify for National Merit Scholarship programs (qualifying for the scholarship is only available for competing Juniors). FFA Mums and Fall Decor:
It is that time again when the cool temps are just around the corner. Let us deliver your fall decorations for you. We will deliver the package you want and then set it up in the location that you want at your house or place of business. We will also be selling Mums, and these are special this year because our own Agriculture students grew them this summer. Please see the attached flyers for details on our options. HOCO Dance:
The HOCO Dance will be Saturday, September 28th from 9-12. Tickets can be purchased at the door. If your student is bringing a non Western Hills student to the dance, they need to fill out a guest permission slip by Wednesday, September 25th. Guest Permission Slip
College and Career Fair:
There will be a College and Career Fair on Tuesday, September 17th from 5:00-7:00 pm in the Western Hills gym.

Archery Team:
On September 19th 5:30 pm-7:30 pm and October 2nd 5:30 pm-7:30 pm, the gym will be open for any archer that was on the team last year and for any students that are interested in the archery team that would like to have some preseason range time.

Powderpuff Game:
Our annual Powderpuff game is tonight at 6:30pm on the football field. Our senior team will be taking on the underclassmen team in a game of flag football. Please come out and support our girls at this exciting senior class fundraiser!
Tackle Hunger Food Drive:
The West vs. the East in a food drive! Hills will be collecting food items during the month of October. Help us win the most food collected and bragging rights for a year! Tackle Hunger Food Drive
French Students:
Western Hills French students are headed to France in June 2025! This trip is open to all Western Hills students who have taken or are currently taking French, as well as their parents or guardians. Contact Ms. Board (caroline.board@franklin.kyschools.us) for more information.
