Dear Wolverine Families,

We had a great first full week back at school. At Western Hills, we believe in the power of collaboration and open communication. Parents, we encourage you to be active participants in your child’s education. Your involvement and support make a significant difference in their academic achievements and overall development. Let’s work hand in hand to ensure their success.

As we progress through the academic year, we will remain steadfast in our pursuit of excellence, innovation, and inclusivity. We will provide a safe, nurturing, and intellectually stimulating environment that empowers every student to discover their strengths and reach their full potential.

I encourage all students to actively engage in extracurricular activities, clubs, and/or sports. These experiences not only enrich their time at school but also offer invaluable life lessons in teamwork, leadership, and time management. We will be having our Club Fair on August 23rd for all students.

Dual Credit Night:

This event is for parents of students taking Dual Credit classes. We would like both the student and parent to attend. Dual Credit Night Flyer

Car Riders:

Do not pick up or drop off students in the teacher lot. Staff members will be monitoring the lot and redirecting those who aren't supposed to be there. If your child is a car rider, please use the front of school for drop off and pick up. For the safety of everyone, as well as our traffic flow, we ask you to please follow this procedure. Due to construction, the overflow lot by the softball field may not be accessible. The line out front in the afternoon is long, but usually is cleared out by 10 minutes. Hills Student Pickup

Athletic Events :

Reminder: All home game ticket sales will be on GoFan . The gate will be cashless. Tickets can be purchased ahead of time on GoFan and we are hoping to have the card readers working at the gate. Sport Pass applications are available in the front office.

Glo Dance:

The Glo Dance will be Saturday, August 24th from 9-12. Tickets can be purchased at the door. If your student is bringing a non Western Hills student to the dance, they need to fill out a guest permission slip by Wednesday, August 21st. Guest Permission Slip

Cross Country Team:

WHHS is looking for more students to join the Cross Country team. Anyone interested in signing up can email adam.schaffner@ky.gov for information. At school, students can get more information from our AD, Adam Johnson. Cross Country is a great way for students to get involved, stay in shape, and have fun!

Driver License Requirement:

Students needing to fulfill their Graduated Driver Licensing requirement can register for a free class by going to www.kentuckysafedriver.com and clicking on the Alive at 25 link located under Courses or by calling 502/699-2295. The next course is offered on Thursday, September 12th at Western Hills from 4:30 pm to 8:30 pm.

Final Forms:

As part of our ongoing commitment to streamline administrative processes and ensure compliance with district and state regulations, Western Hills High School is excited to announce the implementation of FinalForms for all student-athletes. Registration for Fall sports is open and is MANDATORY for ALL student-athletes. Registration for Winter and Spring sports will open at a later date, check our Facebook page for updates. School Store:

Need to stock up on some Wolverine spirit gear? The school store will be open every Friday starting August 16th during lunches in the cafeteria. Cash or check will be accepted.

ACT Prep Sessions:

Collegiate Corner Learning Center offers college prep, and tutoring for grades K-12. Please see attached fliers for more detail. Collegiate Corner

PSAT:

The PSAT will be offered at Western Hills on October 23rd during the school day. Any student in grades 9-11 can sign up to take the exam. The Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) is a standardized test designed to help students prepare for the SAT or ACT and to qualify for National Merit Scholarship programs (qualifying for the scholarship is only available for competing Juniors).
