 Pribnow 

Pribnow an event was conducted for promotion of interaction among biotechnology students and to motivate them to put forward their skills. The event comprised of quiz competition, and games to encourage and motive students to exhibit their skills. Three rounds of quiz was held and the winning teams were given trophies.


Pharmacovigilance workshop 

Pharmacovigilance workshop was conducted by Academy of Clinical Intelligence at 9am on 26th March at Tan Auditorium. Dr. M. Vasundhara gave a keynote address in the inaugural function. A team of five members gave theoretical as well as practical training to students on the various aspects of pharmacovigilance.


Bioposium 

As an endeavour for promoting academic programs we organized one day colloquium ‘BIOPOSIUM’. A team of experts from industry and academia interacted with the students and shared their experience with the students. Poster competition was also held on the theme ‘Challenges in biotechnology’. Mr. Ranganathan Raghuram, GM Global GE Healthcare, Mr. Rakesh Arora GE Healthcare, Dr. Saswat Goswami CIAB, Mr. Sunil Verma Director ACI and Dr. Kaushik Majumdar Scientist NABI were invited to deliberate on issues concerning the area of biotechnology.


Cultural Event

Students of the biotechnology department performed in various cultural events like dance, singing, instrumental and skits.


Industrial Visit

Gene Society took B.Tech Ist year(Biotechnology) students to A.P. Organics Ltd. (Ricela), Dhuri. This industrial visit provided students a good exposure and learning of various processes and set up of an industry. The students were able to see running of various processes like pelleting, extraction, filtration, purification and packaging. The students could see and understand the upstream and downstream processes. 


Quizzes

Students of the biotechnology department organized various quizzes in technical and non technical field.


Operon

Gene society organized a technical event ‘OPERON’ on 15th of March 2017. The event comprised of talk by experts from industry, panel discussions, documentary making and quiz competition. Students from other colleges also participated and they were made aware of various academic activities run by biotechnology department.

Entries were invited from students for 2min documentary making on the theme ‘Higher education’.
