MOE Documents to Support Literacy Programmes

Exploring Language Handbook is now online. A very useful resource for explaining grammar and language conventions, including compound and complex sentences; parts of speech-nouns, verbs, adverbs etc; phrases and clauses.

Sounds and Words: Sounds and Words is designed to support teachers and students to learn about phonological awareness and spelling. It builds on the Literacy Learning Progressions in support of the reading and writing standards.

A PDF version of the 1985 publication (Learning Media). Some minor changes have been incorporated to reflect current terminology and practice. The Literacy Learning Progressions provide clear expectations as to the handwriting skills students need to have mastered by certain year levels. Levels 1 to 4.
