Below is the brief that the students were given on the second day of the visit. During this time they worked in mixed-nationality groups to complete research, planning, and production of a presentation in the form of a report. You can see the work they produced below!
British-German Cultural Workshop Day
A new current affairs platform has launched for young people in Germany and the UK, and you have been asked to contribute to the first report published on the website which deals with the topic of Social Media and Young People.
You will be divided into mixed groups of British and German students, and will look at one or more of the following questions:
Is being a social media influencer a serious job?
Why are so many young people addicted to social media?
What are the advantages of social media?
How can social media cause damage to mental health?
Is cyberbullying a serious issue?
Should we ban social media to those under 18 years old?
To what extent has fake news become a problem?
You may want to come up with your own topic instead!
In your groups you will need to choose some questions to answer, and then you will need to do the following:
Research - Find out online about the topic you have chosen to research.
Find examples that back up what you want to say
Plan the best way in which you can produce a piece of media that will inform our website’s readers.
Your project can be in the form of:
a podcast
a written article
a video
a presentation
…but it must be in both English and German. The aim is that you work together in your groups, in whichever language works best for your group, but that the finished project must be in both languages.
