Hello families! I wanted to take a moment to explain our homework routine so that everyone knows what to expect each week. We can discuss this more at Back to School Night if you have any questions. 

📚 Reading Homework

Students will be expected to read for 15 minutes every night and complete their reading log. Reading logs will be sent home each Monday and should be completed throughout the week.

Students may read a book, magazine, or another age-appropriate text of their choice and then choose one of the listed options to complete a short written response about their reading (please see the attached reading log). 

✏️ Math Homework

Students will have 1-2 nights of math homework each week. Math homework pages will be sent home on the day that lesson is taught, allowing students to practice the skills we are working on in class. This could be different days each week. 

Important: The purpose of math homework is not necessarily for students to get every problem correct. Homework is also an opportunity for students to practice responsibility, independence, and being prepared for school each day. I want students to learn how to keep track of their assignments, complete their work, and bring it back to school.

Most importantly, I do not want homework to become a fight or a source of stress for you and your child. If your child is struggling with an assignment or becomes frustrated, please don't worry! Simply write me a little note on the homework letting me know what they had difficulty with. No worries at all! This helps me know what we may need to review or work on together in class.

📅 Homework Due Date

All homework assignments will be due on Friday. This gives students the flexibility to complete their assignments throughout the week rather than having a different due date each night. Reading logs and math pages can be turned in altogether on Fridays.
