Welcome to our band resource page! Here, you'll find a wealth of information, schedules, articles, and useful links. Students, make sure to regularly check your Google Classrooms for assignments and important updates.
Attention 4th Grade Parents! If your child is interested in joining the band, you've come to the right place. I have provided comprehensive information about the benefits of participating in a music program, obtaining an instrument, and our Virtual Music Demonstration. This resource includes engaging videos showcasing various instruments, along with an enjoyable matching game designed to help young students explore their instrument preferences.
Attention Returning 5th Grade Students! We're gearing up to start the music journey once again! In the initial weeks of school, I'll be visiting all of your classes to distribute permission slips and provide you with the necessary codes to join our Band Google Classrooms.
Should you have any questions or require further assistance, please feel free to reach out to me at damato@tfschools.org. We're excited to embark on this musical adventure with you!
Acquiring an instrument for your child is a straightforward process with various options available:
Use Your Own:
If you already have an instrument at home or can borrow one from a friend or family member, that's fantastic!
If you're uncertain about its condition, you can send it to school with your child, and I'll be happy to inspect it. I can manage most minor repairs myself.
If you come across an instrument for sale online that catches your eye, send me the link, and I'll assess it for you.
Renting:
Renting is a popular choice and can be easily done through our trusted rental partner, Music and Arts. However, you can feel free to use whatever rental store you choice!
To rent, simply visit the Music and Arts website via this link. Type in our school's name, the school ZIP code (07724), and your child's grade.
There, you can select the instrument and any necessary accessories. For most students, having just the instrument is sufficient, but a music stand and a music book can be valuable additions.
Music and Arts Benefits:
Music and Arts offers the flexibility of either having the instruments delivered to the school or directly to your home.
Opting for school delivery has the added advantage of waived delivery costs.
Alternative Music Stores:
If you prefer a different music store or already have a preferred one, please feel free to make your own arrangements.
Lastly, remember that the school does have instruments available for those who may face financial constraints. If you have any questions about instruments or need guidance in selecting the right one, please reach out to me via email at: damato@tfschools.org.
We're committed to ensuring a smooth and enjoyable instrument selection process for you and your child. 🎶
Here's a breakdown of our weekly band schedule:
Lessons:
Your child will have one group lesson per week during the school day.
The schedule rotates to ensure your child doesn't miss the same class more than once every seven weeks.
Different homeroom teachers will have lessons on different days.
Your child will receive a schedule to keep track of lesson days, and we'll also post schedules on the Band Google Classroom for easy reference.
Big Band :
Big Band is our our combined rehearsal that includes all students on all instruments.
Big Band meets once a week on Tuesdays during the instructional school day.
Big Band sessions will kick off in October.
Recess Band:
Recess Band practices occur during your child's recess period, but just once a week.
Don't worry; this won't be a year-long commitment. We'll provide advance notice before Recess Band begins.
Recess Band is an example of a sectional rehearsal, where students gather in groups based on their instruments.
We believe that these sectional rehearsals, like Recess Band, are essential for our students' success. 🎵
