Speech and language skills are an important aspect of a student's academic success. It is essential that a student can communicate effectively with teachers and peers in the educational setting. Students may attend speech therapy in school for a variety of reasons. The student's speech and/or language skills must adversely impact their educational performance for remediation to occur in the school setting.
Some areas that we target during speech therapy sessions include:
Articulation: Production of speech sounds to improve a child's intelligibility while speaking
Language: Expressive (speaking) and receptive (understanding/comprehension) language skills
Fluency: Stuttering
Social Skills: How to appropriately interact with teachers and peers within the school setting
Monthly activity calendars will be posted here for your child to complete with you to reinforce speech and language skills targeted in our therapy sessions. Please try to complete as many activities per week as you can! The purpose of the calendar is to make practicing their speech and language skills fun while being at home! Practicing at home can help to maintain progress your child has made during speech and language sessions during the week at school.
