What kind of facial covering can I wear?

Surgical masks, N95 masks, and cloth masks that adhere to the CDC's recommendations are all acceptable forms of masks. Face shields are not an acceptable form of mask but may be worn over a mask for extra protection if desired.

The CDC advises that cloth masks:

  • Fit snugly but comfortably against the side of the face

  • Completely cover the nose and mouth

  • Are secured with ties or ear loops

  • Include multiple layers of fabric

  • Allow for breathing without restriction

  • Can be laundered and machine dried without damage or change to shape

Though they are not secured with ties or ear loops, snug-fitting, 2-ply buffs and neck gaiters that completely and consistently cover the nose and mouth may be used.
