TESDA CARAGA HOLDS 2021 REGIONAL SKILLS COMPETITION AMID PANDEMIC

πŽπ‚π“πŽππ„π‘ πŸπŸ–, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟏 - Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) Caraga pushes through with the 2021 Regional Skills Competition held at Agusan del Sur School of Arts and Trades (ASSAT), Patin-ay, Prosperidad, Agusan del Sur with the theme β€œResilience through Skills Showmanship Amid Pandemic.”

TESDA Caraga marked the start of the 2021 Regional Skills Competition with a motorcade that was participated by RD Tarhata S. Mapandi, Provincial Directors, Center Chiefs, Competition Experts, Supervisors, Competitors and TESDA personnel across the region on October 28, 2021.

After the Regional Skills Competition was kicked-off with a motorcade, an opening program was followed. All competitors, experts and other delegates from different provinces and training centers were warmly welcomed by the host province – TESDA Agusan del Sur headed by Acting Provincial Director Novielita A. Dispo. This year’s competition was graced by Dir. Lina C. Sarmiento, Deputy Director General for TESD Operations as the Keynote Speaker and Dir. Aniceto D. Bertiz III who gave his Inspirational Message as well as Mr. Earl E. Dela Victoria, RTWPB Board Secretary VI.

Mr. Romel M. Natad, Chairman for RSC Technical Committee presented the delegates from different Region. TESDA Skill areas to be competed are the following: Cooking, Restaurant Service, Electrical Installation and Welding.

This year’s Regional Skills Competition was officially opened by Dir. Tarhata S. Mapandi, CESO III, TESDA Caraga Regional Director. RSC is a friendly competition on vocational and technical skills which serves as an avenue to recognize the skills excellence of the youth, the graduates and students of technical vocational schools and training centers.

Aside from showcasing the skills of the Caraganons and show that we can compete in the world arena, Regional Skills Competition (RSC) also develops the sportsmanship of every competitor. This year’s RSC Oath of Sportsmanship for Competitors was led by Mr. Christopher M. Nueva, Jr., 2019 Gold Medalist, Electrical Installation Zonal RSC held at ASSAT, Agusan del Sur and 2019 Visayas-Mindanao Zonal Skills Competition, KorPhil, Davaol City. On the other hand, for the Experts, Oath of Sportsmanship was led by Engr. Jermy E. Divinagracia, Assistant Professor I of ASSAT.

This year’s 2021 RSC Ceremonial Cutting of Competition Chain was graced by TESDA Caraga Regional Director Tarhata S. Mapandi, CESO III together with Mr. Earl E. Dela Victoria, RTWPB Board Secretary VI and TVPASS President Escolastico R. Hitgano, Jr.

The Provincial Directors, Provincial Training Chiefs and other delegates from different provinces were also present during the activity. This just signifies that the challenges brought about by this pandemic did not stop TESDA from continuing its mandate. Indeed, TESDA will continue to give TVET trainees and graduates not only the chance to showcase their skills but more importantly, they are given the chance to meet world-class standards in skills demonstration.
