The Provincial Training Center – Pagadian is a government non-formal institution and the only public training center mandated to provide accessible Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in the province of Zamboanga del Sur and nearby provinces in Zamboanga peninsula. It is the primary training arm of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority in the communities.
Established in 1984 as part of the National Manpower and Youth Council, the center was originally known as the Heavy Equipment Training Center to support the Philippine Australian Development Project. Initially situated at the Government Center in Padap Compound, Dao, Pagadian City, the center expanded its scope to encompass all necessary training facilities, tools, and equipment by the project's conclusion. This transition enabled the center to offer a range of industry-relevant programs. With the enactment of Republic Act 7796, the institution's name was changed to PTC-Pagadian from the Heavy Equipment Training Center.
In 2017, the training center was moved to its current location at Zone 4, Tiguma, Pagadian City, ZDS. Accordingly, it continuously trained industry workers, underemployed adults, Out-of-School Youths, and Differently Abled Persons. It produces highly employable graduates. Many of the graduates are now working both locally and abroad. Ninety-six (96%) percent of the center’s graduates came from Pagadian City and neighboring Municipalities.
Provincial Training Center-Pagadian has been blessed as a recipient of a 3,000 square-meter titled lot, donated by the Municipality of Labangan. In its great desire, the training and assessment center is considering transferring to the area within 2024-2028 and offering higher qualifications and assessment centers in the province and neighboring provinces.
Moreover, this institution has received another 5,000 sq.m land property at Barangay, Dalapan, Guipos, Zamboanga del Sur by the Ferraren Family, our beneficiaries in PRLEC, during the implementation of NTF-ELCAC in the year 2020. Currently, this institution is in the process of acquiring the land title of the said area.
