Lead therapist and owner Sarah Zsak, M.A. CCC-SLP is an adjunct professor in the Department of Hearing and Speech Sciences at the University of Maryland at College Park.  She graduated from there with her Master’s Degree in Speech-Language Pathology in 2014.  She has a life-long love of languages and is fluent in Spanish.

Prior to graduate school, Sarah was in the Peace Corps and has traveled to 9 countries (Belize, Nicaragua, Czechia, Slovakia, Austria, Hungary, Bolivia, Peru, and Canada).  She would love to visit South Korea, India, and Morocco, among other nations.

Sarah opened Terrapin Speech Institute in the summer of 2020 as a way to provide much-needed services to clients despite the pandemic.  She is listed as an expert reviewer for an SLP telepractice guidebook just published (Jakubowitz M, Edwards-Gaither L. Telepractice: A Clinical Guide for Speech-Language Pathologists. 2022. Plural Publishing). The book helps other speech therapists learn to provide excellent teleservice to their clients and patients.

Terrapin Speech has two distinct divisions, Terrapin Speech Therapy and Terrapin Speech Training. As part of Terrapin Speech Therapy, Sarah treats children with speech and language disorders. She has successfully treated “late talkers,”, children who stutter, children on the autism spectrum, and those who can’t say certain sounds (speech sound articulation disorders and phonological disorders).  Sarah is able to provide this service to children living in Maryland as well as certain other U.S. states.

As part of Terrapin Speech Training, Sarah works with adults interested in learning business communication skills and/or social skills. She offers organizations accent recognition training to help businesses and groups communicate with a wider variety of stakeholders. She is able to provide speech training services to adults worldwide.

Sarah lives in Maryland in the U.S. with her wonderful husband and their 4 children. She enjoys running and gardening.
