Welcome to our 8th Annual T.H.S. Science Research Symposium!

We celebrate virtually this year, under extraordinary circumstances, the individual and unique accomplishments of each of our science research students! Our students emerge confidently to present their research as young experts in their topic. Some of their fields of research were cancer research, robotics, computer science, physics, chemistry, material science, engineering, etc. They have worked closely with and been reviewed by professional scientists and engineers and presented their work to their classmates and at numerous outside science symposia and competitions. Highlights of this year’s recognitions include an STS Scholar, two students named INTEL ISEF Finalist (International Science and Engineering Fair), and many other awards and distinctions.

Science Research Teachers

Our Methods of Science Research Honors course follows a three year sequence, where our students become immersed in a particular area of science. They learn to read peer reviewed articles, create literature reviews, present articles. Ultimately the students will search for a mentor in a college or organization that will guide them through original summer experimental research. The research takes place in the summers between sophomore/junior and junior/senior years and often continues throughout the school year. Throughout the process the students keeps a lab journal and a portfolio of there work.

Students present their work at several competitions each year with poster, paper or oral submissions. Our students have been recognized at Regeneron STS, INTEL ISEF, NOKIA/Bell Labs NJRSF, JSHS, NJAS, NYAS, TOSHIBA Exploravision, etc.

The end of each year culminates in our school Science Research Honors Symposium where the students present their work to the community.

We follow the SUNY Albany Science Research in the High School program.
