As we grow more dependent on modern prescription medicine, we face an important challenge of managing our medicines properly. We have seen many communities crippled with the epidemic of prescription medicine abuse. People start on their medicine and not finish all prescribed doses as their symptoms decrease, which leads to not fully curing the disease on one hand, and the potential of left-over medicine being abused on the other hand. Here is an article from The New York Times that highlights some of the problems of non-adherence to prescription medicine. https://www.nytimes.com/2017/04/17/well/the-cost-of-not-taking-your-medicine.html
To address this problem, we have designed an app called WebRx2 to help people manage their medicine and take them as prescribed by their doctor.
WebRx2 is a simple and easy to use web-based application that reminds the user to take his/her medicine on a timely manner. A reminder email is sent to user’s email address every time a medicine is due until he/she finishes all prescribed dose of medicine. Considering the wide range of potential users with or without much knowledge of technology, WebRx2 is made easy to use and manage in its design and looks. In addition to managing his/her prescription medicine, user will be able to add his/her Doctor and Pharmacy information and communicate to them via email if there is a need. Considering the online presence of user’s sensitive medical information, WebRx2 has a strong built in authentication system to protect user’s data.
As a class project this idea was conceived by Krishna Kafley and supported by Olivia Chen, Tony Mark and Jeff Yu to make it a reality. We used Bootstrap 4.0, HTML5, CSS3, jQuery 3.2.1, and MySQL database schema to build and bring it to your service.
