After attending this event, I thought back to the “How Diverse is Your Universe?” assignment. The audience was very diverse. I don’t know if I’ve ever been to an event that was as diverse as this one. I saw college kids, parents, young adults, and, to my surprise, a couple senior citizens. It was difficult for me to decide who the band’s demographic was. Also, I saw people from many different backgrounds. It was great to see different people that share a love for Guachinangos!
While watching the performers accomplish an amazing performance, I was constantly thinking about our 2nd module "Stereotypes and Diversity". I was so proud of the diverse group for their courage to not only perform in front of a group of people but also to promote inclusion within their music. Guachinangos are composed of men and women from multiple areas of the world and are a very diverse bunch. I can tell this adds to their rhythm, and it makes them stand out amongst other musical groups. They have a different style than most bands, and I will always remember how they sound!
