The virtual Energy Basics meetings are open to ALL members, no matter your chapter affiliation. Participation in these meetings count as a chapter meeting for certification purposes. If you missed one, or just want the info that was discussed during the meeting, check back here and see below!
No matter if you are new to the field, or one who has been around for a while, it is important to understand the basics. This series allows all to review some of the basics as we go over the general topics of energy management.
Hear from your peers, as they have a conversation about how the implement different strategies and overcome different obstacles along their energy management journey.

Global Energy Trends 2024
Targets, trajectories and temporalities | Contextualizing net zero
In an era defined by uncertainty, complex geopolitical tensions, volatile supply chains and the urgent need for rapid cuts in global emissions, the energy transition has reached a critical inflection point. But the need to reach net zero remains as critical as ever.
The 2021–23 global energy crisis had far-reaching impacts on the global energy system, disrupting supply and demand patterns and fracturing long‐standing trading relationships and resulted in many countries facing shortages and increased prices in oil, gas and electricity markets. As a result. emphasis and attention from policy-makers refocussed on security and affordability of energy. While this implies a detour on the path to net zero, this also signals an under-appreciated benefit of the energy transition—that greater energy security and independence can result from a reduced reliance on imported fossil fuels.
In this webinar, we examine the key trends that commentators – including GridBeyond’s experts – agree will be at the forefront of discussions about developments in the energy sector in 2024 and beyond. We look at the reality of, expectations for, and pathways towards net-zero, evaluate whether we on the right track, explore how the gaps can be bridged by action and technology, and ask what can be done by policy-makers, regulators and industry to move the energy transition from target and trajectories to net zero.

Crisis, contingencies, and climate change | Global Energy Trends 2022-23
We’re in the midst of an energy transition that continues to evolve. The current energy crisis is impacting us all and is likely to continue for the foreseeable future. This leaves energy sector participants facing a host of overlapping challenges.
Last year, world leaders gathered at COP26 to set targets for decarbonizing the global economy and the table was set for the energy transition. Since then, the energy landscape has changed dramatically. Today, the world is in the midst of a truly global energy crisis, with impacts that will be felt for years to come. Massive change is coming, thanks to the legislative and policy achievements of the first two years of the Biden administration. The current global energy crisis, which has led to sky-high prices and a weakening world economy, is set to only increase the attractiveness of renewables going forward. As renewable penetration on the grid continues to increase, technologies that can provide grid services and on-demand supply or demand reduction are expected to follow. Whether through increasing demand response and load optimization services or through increased installations of flexible generation assets. In this webinar, we examine the key trends that commentators – including GridBeyond’s experts – agree will be at the forefront of discussions about developments in the energy sector in 2023 and beyond.
Upon participation, you will receive a free White Paper from GridBeyond on the meeting topic.
