September 27 - Pre-submittal meeting with RTO at ASU including Dan Collins, Evan Iverson, Rebecca Belshe, Deb McCaffrey, Gil Speyer, Jonathan Kurka. Review of research problem and ASU technical capability with Sol Supercomputing cluster and other resources.
September 27 - Conversation at the Telluride Institute regarding batch processing of drone data from fens vegetation mapping project
September 29 - Submission deadline for HIRBI grant
October 24 - Notice that grant was successful.
December 23 - Conversation (Zoom) with Bradley Sowder regarding Fens research in collaboration with ASU
February 6 - Meeting at Map and Geospatial Hub at ASU with Matt Toro, Kirk McPhail, and Aditya Deshpande. Dan presented Bradley's MEM research on Drone imaging of Prospect Basin fens.
March 24 - Conversation (Zoom) with Dr. David Cooper regarding viability of research using combination of satellite, drone, AI, and supercomputing.
March 27 - Conversation (Zoom) Matt Toro, Kirk McPhail, and Aditya Deshpande

June 11 - Dan and Aditya had phone call to discuss progress with supercomputing cluster and SAM deep learning strategies.

July 29 - Dan met with Dr. David Cooper regarding strategies for mapping fens using remote sensing.
July 30 - Dan developed list of questions for Rodney Chimner and David Cooper. What factors can be reliably assessed for determining fen distribution via satellite imaging?
August 1 - Dan, Dr. Rod Chimner, Dr. David Cooper meet via Zoom. Dan asked questions about additional sources of data (esp. NDVI and soil data), field work protocols, mapping strategies. Rod sent Dan contacts from Michigan Technological University.
August 7 - Dan and Aditya Zoom meeting. Dan wrote to Dr. Gil Speyer regarding harnessing SOLs computing cluster for processing fen map data.
August 14 - Phone conversation with Mark Prusten regarding novel processes for remote sensing of wetlands as well as his own work in isolating threatened coral reefs. See notes from our discussion shared via email on Aug. 15.
August 16 - Dan and Aditya Zoom meeting. Aditya reported on progress using Deep Learning modules in ArcGIS. Dan reached out to Associate Dean Sandra Stauffer regarding extension of current HIRBI grant.
September 12 - Meeting with researchers from Michigan Technological University (Jeremy Graham, Rod Chimner, Laura Bourgeau-Chavez <lchavez@mtu.edu>.
September 15 - Received RGB data on San Juans from Jeremy Graham at MTU.
October 8 - Contacted Shauna Allison regarding reallocation of funds to support Aditya Deshpande.
October 29 - Meeting with Aditya to review terms of hiring and next steps with research.
October 31 - Meeting with Aditya Deshpande, Molly Grand, and Bradley Sowder regarding harnessing GEE and other tools for evaluating data.
