Competition Terms and Conditions
1. ELIGIBILITY
1.1 The Media Literacy Programme writing Competitions are open to students who take part in the Media Literacy Programme and are aged 16 to 18. Entrants must be resident in the UK, Isle of Man, Channel Islands or Republic of Ireland.
1.2 Entrants must have permission from their parents or guardian to take part in a competition.
1.3 Employees of Telegraph Media Group Holdings Limited (“Promoter”), their agents or anyone else professionally associated with the Competition are not eligible to enter.
1.4 All information detailing how to enter this Competition forms part of these terms and conditions. It is a condition of entry that all rules are accepted as final and that the entrant agrees to abide by these rules. Submission of an entry will be taken to mean acceptance of these terms and conditions.
2. HOW TO ENTER
2.1 To enter the Media Literacy Programme Competitions, students are required to take part in the weekly writing challenges set during the programme.
2.2 Entries must be in English, no more than 100 words and must not contain confidential information.
2.3 Entries must be the original work of the entrant submitting it and must not have been published elsewhere or have won a prize in any other competition.
2.4 The entrants name and their entry must be emailed to medialiteracyprogramme@telegraph.co.uk.
2.5 There will be 4 writing competitions in total. Each competition will run weekly, starting from Tuesday March 3rd and ending Thursday March 26th. The task for each writing competition will be set on a Tuesday and entrants are required to submit their entries before 16:00 on the Thursday of that same week.
2.6 Once submitted, the Promoter cannot accept any changes to any part of an entry.
2.7 Late, illegible, incomplete, defaced, corrupt entries or entries which do not comply with these terms and conditions will not be accepted. No responsibility can be accepted for lost entries and proof of transmission or posting will not be accepted as proof of receipt. Entries must not be sent through agencies or third parties.
3. COPYRIGHT AND INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY
3.1 It is the responsibility of each entrant to ensure that their entry does not infringe the copyright or intellectual property rights of any third party or any laws.
3.2 Copyright and all other intellectual property rights in all entries submitted for this competition remains with the respective entrants. However, each entrant grants a worldwide, irrevocable, perpetual licence to the Promoter and Prize Provider to feature any or all of the submitted entries in any of their publications, their websites and/or in any promotional material connected to this competition.
3.3 Entrants are on notice that:
a. The competition procedure is not confidential; and
b. The Promoter accepts no responsibility for protecting the entrants submission from disclosure, copying or infringement.
4. JUDGES
4.1 The judging panel comprises of:

5. JUDGING CRITERIA
5.1 The decision of the judges will be at their sole discretion; be final; and no correspondence will be entered into.
5.2 The judge will base their decision on the following criteria:

Enthusiasm
6. PRIZES
6.1 There will be three winners for each of the four competitions.
The winners will each receive an Amazon Voucher voucher to the total of £25
7. GENERAL
7.1 The Promoter reserves the right to refuse to accept any entry which in its opinion does not comply with these terms and conditions or which contravenes the spirit of the Competition.
7.2 All winning entrants will be contacted by the Promoter by email within 10 working days of the closing date of the competition for that week. Should the Promoter be unable to contact a winning entrant or should an entrant be unable to accept the prize within 10 days of being contacted, the Promoter reserves the right to award the prize to an alternative entrant, drawn in accordance with these terms and conditions.
7.3 The Promoter's decision in all Competition-related matters shall be final.
7.4 The winning entries will be announced in the session following the date the winner is notified.
7.5 The winning entrants may be required to take part in reasonable publicity on behalf of the Promoter.
7.6 Entrants’ data will be used for the purpose of administration of this Competition and in accordance with the permissions granted or withheld at the point of entry. For information about how the Promoter uses personal information, please see: telegraph.co.uk/about-us/privacy-and-cookie-policy.
7.7 The prizes as described are available on the date of publication. Should a prize become unavailable, a substitute of equal value will be provided. All prizes are non transferable and there are no cash alternatives.
7.8 Events may occur that render the Competition itself or the awarding of the prizes impossible due to reasons beyond the control of the Promoter and accordingly the Promoter may at its absolute discretion vary, amend or waive the Competition’s rules and the entrant agrees that no liability shall attach to the Promoter as a result thereof.
7.9 These Terms and Conditions are to be interpreted in accordance with English law and any dispute arising out of these Terms or their subject matter is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English Courts.
