Te Hapara School - Our Teams

Manu Hou is made up of two classes - Rūma Tahi and Rūma Rua. Our classrooms range from Year 0-1. We apply the principals of The Science of Reading and Learning. This involves our teachers planning and teaching using a systematic, explicit, cumulative approach that is underpinned by evidence-based practices. We teach a cumulative knowledge based curriculum that exposes students to a range of curriculum areas, that build on one another to prepare them for future success. In mathematics, our curriculum is structured around three core strands: Number and Algebra, Measurement and Geometry, and Statistics and Probability.

Manu Iti is made up of three classes - Rūma Toru, Rūma Wha and Rūma Rima. Our classrooms range from Year 2-3. .........

Manu Tū comprises two Year 4 classes: Rūma Ono with Mrs Carlson and Rūma Whitu with Mrs Shen.

We teach using explicit, direct instruction across our Year 4 knowledge-rich curriculum.

Evidence-based instruction ensures our students learn the skills and knowledge they need to thrive

on their learning journey through our Kura.

Manu Kahu is our Year 5 & 6 learning team, made up of Rūma Waru, Rūma Iwa, and Rūma Tekau. We are committed to creating a positive, engaging, and high-achieving learning environment where every learner is supported to grow in confidence, knowledge, and capability.

Our teaching approach focuses on explicit instruction and a strong knowledge-rich curriculum. We believe students learn best when learning intentions are clear, skills are carefully modelled, and knowledge is built progressively over time. Through structured teaching, meaningful practice, and high expectations, we help learners develop strong foundations across all curriculum areas.

In Manu Kahu, we encourage curiosity, resilience, collaboration, and pride in learning. We aim to empower students to become thoughtful, capable learners who are prepared for future success both inside and outside the classroom.
