2026 Techie Camp: Willow Hill & Emanuel County

This summer, TECH CORPS will implement its new Techie Camp with elementary and middle school students at The Willow Hill Heritage and Renaissance Center and Emanuel County School District!

Techie Camp empowers students in grades 3-8 to explore technology through hands-on activities and engaging projects that spark imagination and build essential technology skills. Students also learn about tech careers and develop valuable employability skills like collaboration and problem-solving, inspiring the next generation of tech innovators!

Program Notes

Below are additional notes about Techie Camp:

Each camp consists of 20 rising 3rd-5th or 6th-8th grade students and is led by engaging TECH CORPS instructors.
Families are responsible for transportation and food/beverages (unless otherwise notified).
Each camp will run from 9am-3pm (unless otherwise designated).

Student Enrollment Process

Students will be enrolled in Techie Camp on a "first-come, first-served" basis. Please note that Techie Camps are made possible through the generous support of different funding partners. As a result, eligibility requirements for participation vary by the program sponsor and host site in each area. Registrations will NOT be accepted if the student does not meet the eligibility requirement(s).

Families will receive email confirmations for their registration and program enrollment.

Below are the Techie Camp descriptions in each TECH CORPS area (including eligibility requirements):

Tech Explorer is an immersive, hands-on program where students learn coding (using block coding) by working as a team on an underwater mission. Throughout the week, they build and test different systems: lights, navigation (compass), ocean animal tracking and crew safety, using a micro:bit, a small programmable computer. By the end of the week, they bring everything together in a live “mission simulation” where they showcase their designs and how their technology works.

Students become part of a global mission to unlock how technology systems protect the world. Throughout the week, they travel to virtual vaults around the world, from the Coca-Cola Vault in Atlanta to the Global Seed Vault in Norway, taking on real tech roles like Programmer, Data Analyst, and Engineer.

Eco-Rangers is a hands-on program where students learn how AI and data are used to protect the environment. Throughout the week, they collect data, train simple AI models, and test how technology can detect patterns in nature: like animal sounds, images, and environmental changes. By the end of the week, students design and share their own solution showing how AI can help solve a real-world environmental problem.

Students explore how artificial intelligence, data, and technology are used to make cities smarter, safer, and more efficient. Throughout the week, they investigate real-world systems, like smart parking, autonomous vehicles, and connected devices, to learn how these systems use sensors, data, and algorithms to make decisions. Students will design and test their own smart city systems, to understand how technology responds to real-world conditions.
