Dr. Cecilia Treviño earn her B.S in Chemical Engineering from the Tecnológico de Monterrey in Monterrey city. After working in the industry for a year and half, Dr. Treviño start her graduate studies in the Tecnológico de Monterrey Campus Monterrey. She had the opportunity to have a research stay of 6 months at Rice University in Houston, Tx., where she was working on research in material science and learning the latest on nanotechnology. She received her master’s degree in sciences with a minor in manufacturing systems in 2010 with the thesis entitled “An exploratory study of the electro-conductive composites based in polypropylene resins and two types of carbon nanotubes”.  After that she started pursuing her PhD degree in the same institution. As part of her PhD studies she moved a year to Houston, Tx., to studied at the University of Houston where she was trained in Advanced Mathematics and Materials Science. At the same time, she was working as an intern in the Research Center of Total Petrochemicals & Refining USA, where she was trained in the latest in Plastics Engineering. She received her PhD degree in Engineering Sciences in 2015 with the thesis entitled “A natural frequency approach to study the blown film helicoidal instability of HDPE bimodal resins and the use of ultrafast crystallization data for the modeling of their bubble temperature profiles”.

Currently Dr. Treviño works as a full-time researcher and professor in the Mechanical and Advanced Materials Department in Tecnológico de Monterrey Campus Querétaro, member of the National System of Researchers (SNI). She has collaboration with different research centers in Mexico as CIDESI and CENAPROT-CINVESTAV. She has conducted research with the sponsorship of Total Petrochemicals and Refining USA in the Research Center at La Porte, Texas and Polyethylene plant at Bayport, Tx.

She is currently working in additive manufacturing as a member of the ITESM Research Group on Advanced Manufacturing. In latest April she attended to a training in Micro and Nano Fabrication on the MIT, to continue with her compromise in the knowledge acquisition.  She is working in different project in 3d printing and in polymer process modeling and simulation with the Metamaterials and LWA Lab at Tec de Monterrey in Querétaro.

In the summer of 2022, she joined the Institute of Advanced Materials and Susteinable Manufacturing of the Tecnológico de Monterrey as  Core Researcher of the Advanced Polymers Research Unit.
