In this class, students will work in teams to construct a tiny house that will be sold to the public.
This is a 3 period block class, taken either in the morning or afternoon.
This class will include the use of all applicable tools and materials required in the construction of a house. All aspects from job site preparation, workplace safety, to building/residential construction
will be practiced and evaluated for the student’s grade.
This course relies heavily on the use of basic math, algebra,
and geometry in all aspects of the home build.
Safety attire and tool bags are provided.
Students are required to wear safety attire and tool bags every period. This includes proper footwear. Students unprepared for class will not be allowed to work and cannot earn their daily points.
Demonstrate safe and proper use of hand/power tools
Apply skills necessary for job site preparation, and construction techniques including layout (math), framing, and roofing
Effectively implement framing techniques including floor/joist layout, wall construction/erection, siding, roof work, setting windows and doors, and flooring.
Inside/outdoor finish work.
Correctly install roof trusses, sheeting, and roofing materials.
Install insulation, solar/electrical infrastructure, and plumbing
Maintain a clean, safe, and functional jobsite
