The Power of Choice

Statement of Purpose:

One of Anne Frank’s many inspirations in life was choice, but some may wonder what choices she was given. In my painting, I wanted to portray each golden key as one of the numerous choices Anne Frank could have designated to interpret. She could’ve chosen to give up and let herself be submitted to the misery around her, or she could’ve lived the rest of her life in fear as family and friends were taken to be murdered. However, despite all the negativity and all the oppression, she decided to look past the pain and focus on the bright future ahead. This is just a prime example of the choices ordinary people make in order to make a change in society; all it takes is one mind, one positive and outgoing mind to change the outlook of the world, and it was all because she chose hope.
