What is We Think Digital about?

‘We Think Digital’ Student Competition is designed to empower students to be leaders of change in their communities for digital literacy and digital citizenship.
Students will be able to unlock their potential in navigating the intricate digital world through interactive self-directed online lessons and carefully crafted leadership-themed webinars. While journeying through the competition, students will also be exposed to content creation and project management skills to online campaigns.
All these activities build foundations for young leaders like you to become digital champions!
Eligibility
Open to all students aged 13 - 17 years old studying in MOE schools
Students must have a stable internet connection
Students must sign up as a team of 4, plus 1 teacher from the same school as a facilitator
Students must have a mobile device (ideally laptop/computer) that supports Google Sites and Zoom

Programme Timeline & Guidelines
STEP 1 : REGISTER
Students must sign up as a team of 4, guided by 1 teacher from the same school. Students can register themselves but must get the approval of a teacher.
Registration Deadline: 24th May 2024
STEP 2 : COMPLETE WE THINK DIGITAL LESSONS
All students in the team must independently complete the 6 self-directed online interactive lessons. 'Meta We Think Digital’ e-certificate will be awarded to students who complete all 6 quizzes available at the end of each lesson.
Expected time to complete= 2.5 hours
Deadline: 3rd June 2024

Students must complete all 6 lessons by date stated to be eligible to participate in STEP 3!
STEP 3 : ATTEND 3 WEBINARS ON LEADERSHIP & ADVOCACY
Every webinar is designed and will be delivered by experts to provide students with deeper knowledge and further exposure on student leadership and advocacy. The skills learnt during workshops will aid teams in planning their campaign for the competition!

STEP 4 : SUBMIT YOUR CAMPAIGN PROPOSAL
Teams are required to prepare and submit a campaign proposal based on of the challenge statements stated below. Shortlisted finalists will be selected for the next stage.
Submission Deadline: 31st July 2024

Challenge Statements:
1. How can young people partner with adults to express themselves safely online?
2. How can we empower youngsters to build a supportive community that protects children from online violence?
3. How can young people empower more peers to take actions to eliminate cyberbullying for a healthier cyberspace?
4. How can young people take advantage of social media to increase awareness and prevention on scams?
STEP 5 : RUN YOUR ONLINE CAMPAIGN
The selected top 15 teams will have 8 weeks to run their online campaign. At the end of the 5th week, teams are expected to send in a mid-term report.
At the end of the 8th week, all 15 teams will gather for an in-person showcase event in Kuala Lumpur.

Benefits of Joining
Top 15 teams will proceed to the National Level and be evaluated by top judges from Meta and Ministry of Education Malaysia
Certificate of participation will be given to all students who:
i. Complete Online Modules - ‘Meta We Think Digital’ Certificate of Completion
ii. Submit Campaign Proposals - Certificate of Participation (State Level)
iii. Competition Finalists - Certificate of Participation and Achievement (National Level)
Role of Teachers
Support the forming and registration of student teams from their school
Should it be necessary, programme facilitators will contact teacher representatives regarding student matters (ie. non-attendance, deadline reminders)
Support students in running their online campaigns
Participation of teachers in webinars is optional
