Welcome to Pleasant Prairie Elementary! My name is Lauren Anderson and this is my 6th year teaching. I am so thrilled to be your child's teacher this year. I have taught both first and third grade at PPE. (Shhhh...first grade is the BEST!) It is a year of big reading and writing growth and a fun time. I graduated from Carthage College with degrees in Elementary and Special Education. I also received my Masters degree from the American College of Education in teaching English language learners as well as my reading teacher licensure through Viterbo University.
I grew up in Kenosha and enjoy spending time with family and going down by the lake. I got married this summer and my husband and I live in Pleasant Prairie. I have an older sister and brother in law that live in Hartland, WI where I visit often to see my nephew Henry and soon another nephew (coming fall 2024). My younger brother is an engineer and lives out on the east coast in New Hampshire. My dad is an engineer and my mom is my teaching inspiration and still teaches today at Lakeview K-8 in second grade. I enjoy working out, running, reading, traveling, spending time at a pool, or just being outside!
I believe in fostering a love for learning and curiosity through a positive and welcoming classroom environment where students feel safe and comfortable to try new things. It is my goal to meet students where they are at and challenge them to meet their potiental along with making sure students feel respected, seen, and encouraged. I believe open communication is essential to your child's success. Through the learning platform Seesaw I will send out weekly newsletters and keep you updated on curriculum we are learning, homework, and other classroom activities. Please feel free to reach out to me anytime with any questions or concerns. It's going to be a great year!
