Timeline & Registration

March - April, 2025 - 4th grade students will attend a performance at Bradford, Indian Trail, or Tremper High School & will then register for a "Band Night" in which they will have the opportunity to come and try the instruments to find their best fit.  Registration will open in March.  Stay tuned for a link. 

May, 2025 - 4th graders will attend a band night to select their instrument. 

May - June 2025, Parents/Guardians will obtain an instrument / instrument contract.

Renting an instrument is recommended.  There are two music stores in town that rent band instruments. 
Pacetti's Music (active link) and the Music Center. When obtaining a rental contract, you will not be charged until your rental is delivered to the school & begins in September.  Obtaining a rental contract in May/June is critical because they DO sell out of instruments.
If you own an instrument, please bring it to a quality repair shop to have it looked over in May / June.  If you wait until August or September, it will likely not be completed in time to start lessons. 

If you qualify for free or reduced lunch, you qualify to use a school owned instrument.  Please provide a copy of the financial determination letter that was sent to you by the Department of Food Services.  You may email it to elemband@kusd.edu.  If you do not have a copy of that letter, email us and we can facilitate obtaining it.  Instruments owned by the district are in limited quantities and types of instruments and are given on a first come, first serve basis. July, 2025 - all new beginning band students are encouraged to attend the Summer Band Ice Cream Social where they will hear/see students who have completed grades 5-12 perform. Free pie and ice cream is served! 

September, 2025 - for students who chose their instruments in Spring, rental instruments are delivered to the elementary schools from the store you rented from & lessons begin! 

September, 2025 - NEW STUDENTS:  If you have not worked with one of our directors to select your instrument, IT IS NOT TOO LATE!!! Please email us at elemband@kusd.edu and we wll get you started!  Do not delay! We want you to be able to start with this Fall's beginning band class!
