Teacher Bio

Ricardo "Rick" Gutierrez is a theatre teacher at World Languages Institute. A born and raised Los Angeleno, Mr. Gutierrez attended college at Los Angeles Valley College to originally study film. Theatre was just a filler class in college, but he instantly fell in love with the art form and never looked back. Especially when he started directing in college! He also attended University of Phoenix where he earned his bachelor's degree in Psychology.

Mr. Gutierrez's certifications include: EC-12 Theatre, EC-12 Art, and 6-12 Speech. This is his sixth year teaching and his third year at World Languages Institute.

"The biggest thrill for me is a student finding their voice on the stage."

Mr. Gutierrez loves working with students, and his biggest ambition is to help those students who are shy or introverted, to discover their true person on the stage.

In his spare time, Mr. Gutierrez enjoys spending time with his family, and two dogs and two cats. He is also a stage actor, having acted in theatres in the DFW area, including Onstage in Bedford and Hip Pocket Theatre in Lake Worth.

Mr. Gutierrez is a big fan of baseball (go Dodgers!), he also enjoys collecting (action figures, comic books), he loves movies, and attending live theatre performances. His favorite candy is Whoppers, and his favorite color is blue. He also has a vast collection of ties that has only grown since he started teaching in 2015.
