Hello! My name is Amanda Saenz and I am the librarian at West Handley Elementary. I graduated from Texas Wesleyan with my bachelor's in Sociology and I am currently enrolled in Texas Women's University for my master's degree in Library Science. I am certified in Generalist EC-6, Core Subjects 4-8, SPED, and ESL. I taught for 10 years within FWISD at another campus before transitioning to a librarian. I have taught PK through 2nd grade and have loved every minute of my time as an educator.
I am married with three amazing children. My husband is a law student with UNT Dallas and is set to graduate May 2024. My three children are Rousseau, Victoria, and Abigail. Rousseau is 12 years old and in 8th grade. He plays competitive soccer and loves to play video games online with his friends. Victoria is 8 years old and in 4th grade. She loves to read and play Fortnite with friends on Xbox. Abigail is 6 and in 2nd grade. She loves to read and play Roblox with friends. Beyond my human family I have three dogs (Ava, Charlie, and Alma), two geckos (Spartacus and Norman), one turtle (Nellie), and two cats (Atticus and Amigo).
In my spare time... no wait I have no spare time with three children, but when I get a minute to myself I love to go shopping at Half Priced Books or play Sims4. If it is football season (professional, not college) I can be found on game days in front of my TV watching any game that is on.
I look forward to supporting students, staff, and the community as the librarian this year. If you have any questions or need to reach me, my please email me at Amanda.Saenz@fwisd.org.
