Dear Students:

Welcome to the 2020-2021 school year!

How weird is this???? Remember the last six weeks of the previous year and how all of the lessons were created by someone else who wasn't your teacher? This year is going to be very different. Your learning will consist of videos, live lessons, note taking, reading stories/novels from PDF links, and some online learning platforms whose links will appear here later on a tab made for that purpose, but they will all be created and assigned by me. You will also be writing persuasively, so brace yourself for that!

I can't tell you how long this whole "online" learning thing will last, but I can promise that if you show up for class EVERY DAY, learn to navigate all of the tabs on this site, do the assignments on Google Classroom and read any communications you get from me, you'll be okay. I can also promise that you'll emerge from this situation better able to use laptop technology (not just your phone) as a part of (hopefully not ALL) your educational journey.

As with anything in life, the key is all about balance, not getting behind and communicating with me in a timely way if you think you don't understand something. This is true, not just for my class, but for all of your classes. We will proceed with the year assuming that, at some point, some of us might be back in the classroom later in the year. That said, if it doesn't happen, showing up for online class so that I can learn about you (and you about me) will be extra important. Make sure you check out the tab that explains the A/B schedule for the entire year and familiarize yourself with this site and with the Google Classroom for your class with me.

See you on September 8th....or 9th...depending on when your class meets. Get some rest until then!
