Who Are We

The Polytechnic High School Choir is comprised from beginning to advanced levels. Through choir, students study and perform literature of various genres and time periods and learn vocal technique, part-singing ability, music theory, stage presence, and more. Success of this program is achieved through support from parents, administration, and faculty, and through the efforts and dedication of participating students.

The Director

Jean O'Neal is the Choir Director for the 2020-2021 school year. She is a graduate of Prairie View A&M University and has a Bachelor of Music degree with emphasis in Vocal Performance. She has been the director of middle school as well high school choruses and has been teaching since 2005. She loves to sing and gets a joy out of introducing students to the classical vocal genre. It is her hope to grow the Polytechnic High School program and showcase their talent in the Fort Worth Community.

The Polytechnic High School Choral program provides students with basic musical instruction in various musical styles and genres, as well as vocal pedagogy and music theory. In addition, students are encouraged to participate in TMEA All State auditions and Solo and Ensemble contests. Participation at all choir performances and the UIL Concert & Sight Reading contests are required. Students are encouraged to attend outside concerts/performances to develop critical listening skills. Grade level: 9 – 12
