BHE Music Class Overview

Elementary Music is the foundation of your child's music education. The focus of this class is to provide your child with many enjoyable experiences in music and opportunities to learn and develop a variety of music-related skills. In class we will:

• Sing, play, dance to, and evaluate music

• Listen to music from various musical eras, genres, and cultures

• Play the recorder and other instruments

• Perform singing activities that will help your student to grow in sight reading and pitch-matching

• Learn to sing solfege and sign pitches

About Me

My name is Arash Noori and I'm the music teacher at Oakhurst Elementary! I grew up in Toronto, Canada where I earned my Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Toronto and went on to receive graduate degrees in music from Yale University and the Juilliard School in New York. I spent several years traveling the world as a professional musician before arriving in Texas in 2018 when I began teaching at the University of North Texas, College of Music. Since the fall of 2020 I've been a proud music teacher of the amazing students at Oakhurst Elementary School! I enjoy fishing (if you know a good fishing spot, let me know!), reading, and spending time with my wonderful wife Stephanie.
