Our ultimate goal is to provide students an authentic artistic experience of creating, recording, and performing their own music.  We encourage creativity and innovation through the exploration of electronic instruments and technology used in contemporary music production and sound design, as well as through the development of student-driven small performing ensembles in diverse musical styles.  We are blessed with a full range of instruments, a computer lab, and recording studios.  

As music technology and tastes have evolved in the 20 years that I’ve been at Southwest, I’ve most enjoyed helping students forge their own artistic path.  As collaborative and supportive members of this school family, our students have a unique opportunity to develop skills which can provide a career and lifelong joy in music creation.
