Week #1
This is an introductory week, where we will learn how to log-on, and getting comfortable with distance learning.
Public speaking and communicating information to an audience in school, online, in the workplace, and even in our personal life. The benefits of knowing how to communicate to an audience include sharpening critical thinking and verbal/nonverbal communication skills.

Week #2
More "Getting to know you!" We will discuss The Communication Process, Non-Verbal Communication, and Symbols.
21-25th
Week #3
This week we will discuss types of speeches, focussing on Informative speeches.
Informative Speeches- What occasions would be correct to present an informative speech?
The student will:
Select an appropriate topic.
Properly prepare an outline.
Learn how to research effectively and thoroughly, including which types of websites are acceptable in terms of
Provide 3 different forms of supporting evidence such as statistics, testimony, narrative, reports, anecdotes, etc.
Provide a meaningful audio or visual aid.
Limit the speech to fit the time limit.
Discuss what plagiarism and how to cite sources.
9/28-10/02
Week #4
Students will have in-class time to research and write their speech, and turn in their outline.
