What we are studying in Music Class

Kindergarten - Introduce and continue: fast/slow, loud/quiet, introduce timbre, 5 voices, strong/weak beat, high/low pitches

First Grade - Review -fast/slow, loud/quiet, steady beat, voice choice, relate high/low to so-mi-la pitch patterns, same/different form, quarter note, eighth notes, piano/forte

Second Grade - Review- known rhythms, known solfege, introduce new pitch 'do,' half note, small form, ABAC form, 2/4 meter, 4 and 8 beat patterns, dynamics piano/forte, pianissimo/fortissimo

Third Grade - Review -known rhythms, known solfege, musical idea, forte, piano, introduce and continue sixteenth notes. Introduce melodic movement: skips, steps, and repeats aurally and visual (notation), hi 'do,' whole note/rest, meter 4/4, extended dynamics

Fourth Grade - Review - known rhythms, known solfege, dynamics; New-high 'do,' absolute pitch, low 'la,' dotted half note, 3/4 meter, solfege pitch 'fa,' large and small musical forms

Fifth Grade - Review- absolute pitch, known rhythms, known solfege New-6/8 meter, solfege note 'ti,' Major/minor scales, syncopated rhythms
